Six years later, she is practically fluent!<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The hardest thing about learning the language is getting people to speak Dutch with you when you&#8217;re first learning,&#8221; says Heather, Because most people here speak English so well, people tend to switch to English when you make a mistake. &#8220;They are fried cheese or meat balls with ragu sauce, you eat them with mustard.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.thedutchtable.com\/2010\/10\/bitterballen-dutch-deep-fried-gravy.html\">The Dutch Table<\/a> has a great recipe made with beef and served with grainy mustard.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-8024\" with the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.levarht.com\/recipes\/hutspot-dutch-carrot-potato-mash\/\">recipe<\/a>, \u00a0which suggests <em>rookworst<\/em> (smoked sausage) for the meat.<\/p>\n<p>As they say, <em>Alsof er een engeltje over je tong piest<\/em>!
