Libraries are on the front lines of supporting immigrants and refugees in their communities. That means building literacy of all kinds: digital, financial, and of course English.<\/p>\n

Easier said than done when you’re up against tight budget, limited resources, and language barriers.<\/p>\n

So we asked 100 public librarians about their biggest struggle supporting English Language Learners in their communities.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Most answers fell into three categories:
\n?\ufe0f52% struggle with outreach & marketing across language barriers
\n?17% lack of materials or don’t know which materials to provide
\n?\u200d?13% don’t have enough staff or volunteers to launch\/scale programs<\/p>\n

That’s a lot to overcome! So we found three librarians running impressive ELL programs to share how they’ve done it.<\/p>\n
