Both will be in the ablative.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Ad \u012bnsulam n\u0101vigat cum scaph\u0101<\/strong> = He is sailing to the island with a boat<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Cum&#8221; means &#8220;with&#8221; and the word it modifies will be in the ablative.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Ad\u00a0casam sine\u00a0aqu\u0101\u00a0ambulant<\/strong> = They are walking to the house without water<\/p>\n<p>Here, &#8220;sine&#8221; serves as the word &#8220;without&#8221;, and the word that it modifies is in the ablative.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Ad casam cum cib\u014d ambul\u014d<\/strong> = I am walking to the house with food<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Cib\u014d&#8221; does not end in &#8220;\u0101&#8221; like the other words in the ablative.<\/p>\n<p>This is because &#8220;cib\u014d&#8221; is a second declension noun. Before the introduction of cib\u014d, we&#8217;ve been dealing with first declension nouns in the singular ablative.
