Therefore it has to be the nominative plural.<\/p>\n<p>The genitive plural of the second declension ends in \u2013\u014drum.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Scapha vir\u014drum in aqu\u0101<\/strong> = The mens\u2019 boat is on the water.<\/p>\n<p>Be careful with the genitive plural of the second declension. It is similar to the genitive plural ending of the first declension, which ends in \u2013\u0101rum.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Scapha p\u012br\u0101t\u0101rum in n\u014dn aqu\u0101<\/strong> = The pirates&#8217; boat is not on the water.<\/p>\n<p>Here, p\u012br\u0101t\u0101rum ends in -\u0101rum, which tells you that this is a first declension gentive singular noun.<\/p>\n<p>The genitive can also have the meaning &#8220;of&#8221;, especially when &#8220;of&#8221; refers to possession :<\/p>\n<p><strong>Incola \u012bnsulae es<\/strong> = You are an inhabitant of the island.
