Personally, I was married on leap year (today) so again what is more fitting than a love story. So this month, we are taking a look at the famous myth of Echo and Narcissus.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"theSTART - Nemesis\" width=\"500\" height=\"375\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/EQk7StgZQl4?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>The story of Echo and Narcissus is best known from book three of Ovid\u2019s\u00a0<em>Metamorphoses<\/em>, a Latin narrative poem in 15 parts which emerged around AD 8, whose unifying theme is transformation. It chronicled more than 250 Classical myths and was a huge influence on Dante and Shakespeare.<\/p>\n<p>LATIN<\/p>\n<p>ergo ubi Narcissum per devia rura vagantem\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<span style=\"font-size: small\">370<\/span><br \/>\nvidit et incaluit, sequitur vestigia furtim,<br \/>\nquoque magis sequitur, flamma propiore calescit,<br \/>\nnon aliter quam cum summis circumlita taedis<br \/>\nadmotas rapiunt vivacia sulphura flammas.<\/p>\n<p>ENGLISH<\/p>\n<p>Therefore\/One day, when she observed Narcissus wandering in the pathless woods, she loved him and she followed him, with soft and stealthy tread.\u2014The more she followed him the hotter did she burn, as when the flame flares upward from the sulphur on the torch.<\/p>\n<p>For the Romans, the description of such love and want is not uncommon with Ovid. Does anyone know how this story ends?
