During this time, there is much uncertainty for individuals throughout the world and in general, the state of the world may seem a little scary. Nearly 2,000 years later it was found during excavations in Herculaneum. The British Museum asked Giorgio Locatelli to recreate the recipe as part of his culinary investigations for the cinema production &#8216;Pompeii Live from the British Museum&#8217;. (video link in title)<\/p>\n<p>2.\u00a0 Virtual Museum Tours<\/p>\n<p>Why not visit museums who house artifacts and art of antiquity? Museums like the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.louvre.fr\/en\/visites-en-ligne#tabs\">Lourve<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/artsandculture.google.com\/partner\/the-british-museum\">British Museum<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/artsandculture.google.com\/partner\/pergamonmuseum-staatliche-museen-zu-berlin\">Pergamon Museum<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/artsandculture.google.com\/partner\/the-metropolitan-museum-of-art\">The Metropolitan Museum of Art<\/a>, and <a href=\"https:\/\/artsandculture.google.com\/partner\">more<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>3. <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.transparent.com\/latin\/conversational-latin\/\">Learn the Latin Language<\/a><\/p>\n<p>They say that supposedly Shakespeare wrote King Lear during the period\/quarantine of the Bubonic Plague (whether this is factual is debatable, but let us run with the spirit of it), why not cross some items off your bucket list like learning a language? Why not a few phrases in Latin for this special day? If not, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.transparent.com\/?_ga=2.90282078.57335175.1585579919-1886242917.1567439318\">Transparent Language<\/a> has over 100 languages!<\/p>\n<p>4. Teach Children about the Ancient World:\u00a0 Travel through History Day<\/p>\n<p>Have you been hesitant about teaching children about the ancient world? Why not let<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ted.com\/talks?topics%5B%5D=ancient+world\"> TED ED<\/a> have a conversation for you? Learn about the ancient world and discuss it afterward! Make a Toga and Eat Like Romans<\/p>\n<p>You know you have seen on TV or movies, but here is <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=BQYloC_QcWY\">how you really make a toga<\/a>. You can also learn about all the <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.transparent.com\/latin\/5-outrageous-things-ancient-romans-ate\/\">weird things Roman ate<\/a> like Flamingo&#8230;although, we aren&#8217;t encouraging that &#8211; eat some bread (maybe that you baked while watching the TED ED videos). Why <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Clothing_in_ancient_Rome\">women did not wear togas in Ancient Rome<\/a> (they wore tunics), I feel like why should only men have the fun and get to wear the iconic toga.<\/p>\n<p>6.\u00a0 <a href=\"https:\/\/open.spotify.com\/playlist\/66jQHOVM7secMHrJb00drg\">Listen to Ancient Music and Dance!<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Okay, so this may be a little misleading&#8230;but the above links to a Spotify playlist of what ancient Roman music MAY have sounded like. Unlike ancient Greece, where at least 60 fragments of ancient Greek music have been preserved, only one pitiful shard of written music has survived from ancient Rome &#8211; a tiny measure by a Roman composer named Flaccus wrote for the play &#8220;Hecyra&#8221; by Terence (&amp; even this tiny fragment is no longer deemed to be authentic, according to the musicologist Thomas J. Metamorphosis by Ovid (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ancient-literature.com\/rome_ovid_metamorphoses.html\">summary<\/a> or <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theoi.com\/Text\/OvidMetamorphoses1.html\">full text<\/a>) is great fun for adults who like love, scandal, adventure, and more. While suitable editions of Roman Myths for young children can be found <a href=\"https:\/\/rome.mrdonn.org\/myths.html\">here<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>8. Movie Time<\/p>\n<p>Lastly, with devices and screens kept a bay for most of the day, why not dive back into the 21st century by ending the night with a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.imdb.com\/list\/ls070616962\/\">Roman movie or series<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Would love to know what idea you have incorporated in your special Ancient Rome day during this time.
