You may have heard the recent news about the Crosby Garrett Helmet<\/strong>.<\/strong> The Crosby Garrett Helmet is a first to third A.D. century helmet sold for a total of 3.6 million dollars at an auction. You may be asking yourself, why would anyone want this old bronze helmet? Well the answer to that is that it\u2019s not an ordinary helmet. It\u2019s been nicely preserved, and part of the reason for that may have been due to the fact that it was not a helmet used in battle, but for parades.<\/p>\n

Before the Crosby helmet, the Newstea<\/strong>d<\/strong> Helmet<\/strong>was one of the most famous helmets unearthed from the ground. The Helmet dates back to 80 to 100 A.D. It was actually used in battle, which may be one of the reasons why it was shattered when it was first discovered. The Helmet was made of iron and was dug up from a place called Newstead, which is in present day Scotland.<\/p>\n

Before the Newstead Helmet was discovered, the Ribchester Helmet<\/strong> was one of the most well known helmets from Ancient Roman times. The Helmet was dated to be from the first to the second century A.D. The Ribchester Helmet was found in Ribchester, which is located in present day England. Like the Crosby Helmet, the Ribchester Helmet was made of bronze and probably used for non military uses.<\/p>\n
