If so, then check out these books :<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Learn to read Latin<\/span> by Andrew Keller and Stephanie Russell<\/p>\n<p>*Appropriate for beginner and intermediate students<\/p>\n<p>Pros :<\/p>\n<p>-very thorough grammar explanations.<\/p>\n<p>-contains lots of readings from various authors like Cicero, Catallus and Caesar<\/p>\n<p>-the workbook that accompanies this book contains numerous drills<\/p>\n<p>Cons :<\/p>\n<p>-the textbook itself is a bit pricy. The textbook + workbook = close to $100 or more on Amazon.com<\/p>\n<p>-have to ask for a separate key from publisher (key does not come with the book)<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Getting Started with Latin<\/span> by William E. Linney<\/p>\n<p>*Appropriate for beginner students<\/p>\n<p>Pros :<\/p>\n<p>-contains practice drills with answer key in back<\/p>\n<p>-lessons are cumulative<\/p>\n<p>-lessons are easy to understand and master<\/p>\n<p>Cons :<\/p>\n<p>-doesn\u2019t cover advanced material; won\u2019t be able to read Latin texts after finishing the book<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Wheelock\u2019s Latin<\/span> by Frederick M. Wheelock and Richard A. Lafleur<\/p>\n<p>*Appropriate for advanced beginner, intermediate and advanced students<\/p>\n<p>Pros :<\/p>\n<p>-good grammar explanations<\/p>\n<p>-reasonable price (under $15 as of Dec. 2010 on Amazon.com)<\/p>\n<p>Cons :<\/p>\n<p>-moves at fast pace; must be very self-motivated to learn<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Lingua Latina<\/span> by Hans H. Orberg<\/p>\n<p>*Appropriate for intermediate to advanced learners<\/p>\n<p>Pros :<\/p>\n<p>-instant immersion; the whole text is written in Latin<\/p>\n<p>-engaging and humorous text<\/p>\n<p>-reasonable price (under $20 as of Dec. 2010 on Amazon.com)<\/p>\n<p>Cons :<\/p>\n<p>-answer key, drills, and audio readings have to be purchased separately<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A new year is will start soon and perhaps you\u2019ve been thinking about mastering the Latin language as your New Year\u2019s resolution.
