{"id":1223,"date":"2011-09-28T03:40:44","date_gmt":"2011-09-28T03:40:44","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.transparent.com\/norwegian\/?p=1223"},"modified":"2014-08-22T17:45:43","modified_gmt":"2014-08-22T17:45:43","slug":"norwegian-baby-names","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.transparent.com\/norwegian\/norwegian-baby-names\/","title":{"rendered":"Norwegian Baby Names"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Although I am not planning on having <strong>barn<\/strong> (children) for some years yet, I often find myself brainstorming options for baby <strong>navn<\/strong> (names). \u00a0I have always been of the opinion that it must be extremely difficult to choose a <strong>navn<\/strong> that will stick with your <strong>barn<\/strong> for the rest of his or her life. \u00a0First of all, there are so many great names, it seems like it would be so difficult to choose the one you and the other parent like the best. \u00a0Secondly, some <strong>navn<\/strong> that seem suitable for a <strong>barn<\/strong> simply are not suitable for a <strong>voksen<\/strong> (adult). \u00a0Lastly, a <strong>navn<\/strong>\u00a0might just simply not fit an individual. \u00a0I know several people that have changed their birth <strong>navn<\/strong> to something else because they really disliked it.<\/p>\n<p>In any case, every <strong>barn<\/strong> needs a <strong>navn<\/strong> and most turn out just fine. \u00a0I have a very traditional and popular Norwegian <strong>navn<\/strong>-Kari. \u00a0I think it suits me and I like it much better than the 2nd choice my parents were considering-Rebecca (sorry to the Rebecca\u00b4s out there-the <strong>navn<\/strong> just wouldn\u00b4t fit me.<\/p>\n<p>As with most things, <strong>navn<\/strong> go through historical cycles as far as popularity. \u00a0Names that were popular hundreds of years ago are popular again today. \u00a0However, there are of course many <strong>navn<\/strong> used today that did not exist hundreds of years ago, or they are spelled differently now.<\/p>\n<p>I encourage you to watch and listen to <iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"The Names of Norway\" width=\"500\" height=\"375\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/F57gvE89KCU?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer;
