{"id":1228,"date":"2011-09-30T01:27:21","date_gmt":"2011-09-30T01:27:21","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.transparent.com\/norwegian\/?p=1228"},"modified":"2011-09-30T01:27:21","modified_gmt":"2011-09-30T01:27:21","slug":"typical-travel-related-questions-in-norwegian","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.transparent.com\/norwegian\/typical-travel-related-questions-in-norwegian\/","title":{"rendered":"Typical travel related questions in Norwegian"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>My job has given me the opportunity to do quite a bit of traveling. \u00a0Every month I travel somewhere for at least a few days, sometimes 2 weeks. \u00a0Although my colleagues and I usually have some sort of connection with someone who either lives or has lived in the cities we visit, we still find ourselves asking the typical tourist questions. \u00a0Correct me if I am wrong, but I think most people who want to learn a foreign language actually want to be able to use it in some fashion. \u00a0While most Norwegians speak English very well, I would think many of you would like to be able to walk Karl Johan and ask a native Norwegian a question in Norwegian.<\/p>\n<p>I made a list of all of the questions that I asked Philadelphia natives (or people that have lived there long enough to answer these questions)\u00a0last weekend. \u00a0You will also find the answers to these questions below as well.<\/p>\n<p>1. \u00a0<strong>Hvor er den beste italiensk restaurant?<\/strong> \u00a0Where is the best Italian restaurant?<\/p>\n<p><strong>Den beste italiensk restaurant finnes i Gammel by og det heter Ralph\u00b4s<\/strong>. \u00a0The best Italian restaurant can be found in Old City. \u00a0It is called Ralph\u00b4s.<\/p>\n<p>2. \u00a0<strong>N\u00e5r stenger utestedene?<\/strong> \u00a0When do the places to go out (another word for bar, club, places to go out) close?<\/p>\n<p><strong>Utestedene stenger kl. 2.<\/strong> \u00a0The places to go out close at 2.<\/p>\n<p>3. <strong>\u00a0Hvor er den n\u00e6rmeste jernvarehandel<\/strong>? \u00a0Where is the nearest hardware store?<\/p>\n<p><strong>Den n\u00e6rmeste jernvarehandel er cirka 2 km nord fra sentrum.<\/strong> \u00a0The closest hardware store is about 2 km north of the center.<\/p>\n<p>4. \u00a0<strong>Hvis man vil kj\u00f8pe en gave til noen hjemme, hvor kan man shoppe litt?<\/strong> \u00a0If one wants to buy a present for someone at home, where can one shop a bit?<\/p>\n<p><strong>Det er mange butikker ved hovedgaten midt i sentrum.<\/strong> \u00a0There are many stores on the main street in the center.<\/p>\n<p>5. \u00a0<strong>Hvor lang tid tar det \u00e5 kj\u00f8re til flyplassen fra hotellet?<\/strong> \u00a0How long does it take to drive from the airport from the hotel?<\/p>\n<p><strong>Det tar 25 minutter \u00e5 kj\u00f8re til flyplassen fra hotellet.<\/strong> \u00a0It takes 25 minutes to drive to the airport from the hotel.<\/p>\n<p>6. \u00a0<strong>Hva er denne byen mest kjent for?<\/strong> \u00a0What is this city most known for?<\/p>\n<p><strong>Denne byen er mest kjent for Philly Cheesesteaks og Brotherly Love.<\/strong> \u00a0This city is most known for Philly Cheesesteaks and Brotherly Love.<\/p>\n<p>7. \u00a0<strong>Hvilken cheesesteak er bedre-den fra Geno\u00b4s eller Pat\u00b4s<\/strong>? \u00a0Which cheesesteak is better-the one from Geno\u00b4s or Pat\u00b4s?<\/p>\n<p><strong>Pat\u00b4s lager bedre cheesesteaks, absolutt.<\/strong> \u00a0Pat\u00b4s makes better cheesesteaks, absolutely.<\/p>\n<p>8. \u00a0<strong>Har hotellet et treningssenter?<\/strong> \u00a0Does the hotel have a fitness center?<\/p>\n<p><strong>Ja, hotellet har et treningssenter p\u00e5 andre etasjen<\/strong>. \u00a0Yes the hotel has a fitness center on the second floor.<\/p>\n<p>9. \u00a0<strong>Kan man ta egen alkohol til restauranten?<\/strong> \u00a0Can one bring one\u00b4s own alcohol to the restaurant (BYOB)?<\/p>\n<p><strong>Ja, det er mange restauranter i Philadelphia der man kan ta med egen alkohol<\/strong>. \u00a0Yes, there are many restaurants in Philadelphia where one can bring one\u00b4s own alcohol.<\/p>\n<p>10. \u00a0<strong>Hvor mange timer forskjell er det mellom Philadelphia og Minnesota<\/strong>?
