{"id":125,"date":"2009-07-22T13:11:37","date_gmt":"2009-07-22T17:11:37","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.transparent.com\/norwegian\/?p=125"},"modified":"2010-08-20T08:41:21","modified_gmt":"2010-08-20T08:41:21","slug":"little-grills","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.transparent.com\/norwegian\/little-grills\/","title":{"rendered":"Little grills"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.transparent.com\/norwegian\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/14\/2009\/07\/IMG_0039.jpg\" aria-label=\"IMG 0039 300x225\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-513\" title=\"IMG_0039\"  alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" \/ src=\"https:\/\/blogs.transparent.com\/norwegian\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/14\/2009\/07\/IMG_0039-300x225.jpg\"><\/a>There is an article in <em>Aftenposten <\/em>online today titled &#8220;<strong>Engansgrillens d\u00f8dare<\/strong>&#8221; (The <strong>engangsgrill<\/strong>s killers)- about a group of 5 Norwegian firemen and 1 Norwegian firewoman (<strong>brannfolk-<\/strong>brann meaning fire)<strong> <\/strong>who are testing small, portable, multiple use grills that will hopefully discontinue the use of <strong>engangsgrill<\/strong>s-the small disposable grills that you can purchase at a grocery store or convenience store in Norway to grill a few <strong>p\u00f8lser <\/strong>on and dump it in the <strong>s\u00f8ppelkassen<\/strong> (garbage can).\u00a0 <strong>Engangsgriller <\/strong>work ok (except they can easily burn the food you are grilling because there is not much space between the coals and the grate that the food sits on), but they are obviously not the most environmentally friendly (<strong>milj\u00f8vennlig<\/strong>) contraptions as they get tossed i <strong>s\u00f8ppelkassen<\/strong> after one use.\u00a0 Who better to test grills than <strong>brannfolk?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Brannfolket <\/strong>tested 5 grills.\u00a0 And here is what they had to say about them:<\/p>\n<p>(refer to the following website for <strong>bilder <\/strong>(pictures) and <strong>mer informasjon <\/strong>(more information):<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/oslopuls.aftenposten.no\/aktivitet_friluft\/article235686.ece\">http:\/\/oslopuls.aftenposten.no\/aktivitet_friluft\/article235686.ece<\/a><\/p>\n<p>The characteristics that each grill was judged for include <strong>pris <\/strong>(price), <strong>st\u00f8rrelse av<\/strong> <strong>gassbeholderen <\/strong>(the size of the gas tank), <strong>plass p\u00e5 grillen <\/strong>(space on the grill), <strong>vekt <\/strong>(weight), <strong>letthet \u00e5 b\u00e6re <\/strong>(ease to carry), <strong>hvor raskt den blir varm eller kald <\/strong>(how fast it becomes hot or cold), and <strong>avstand fra kull <\/strong>(distance from the coals).<\/p>\n<p>The conclusions suggested\u00a0the following:<\/p>\n<p>-the best grill would be <strong>lett \u00e5 b\u00e6re <\/strong>and not too heavy, yet not built so cheaply that it will &#8216;be destroyed easily&#8217; (<strong>bli lett \u00f8delagt<\/strong>)<\/p>\n<p>-the design would allow it to provide ample grill surface area for grilling several things at once<\/p>\n<p>-far enough distance from the coals to the grate <strong>s\u00e5nn at maten ikke brenner<\/strong> (so the food does not burn), but close\u00a0enough\u00a0so it does not\u00a0take forever for the food to get hot<\/p>\n<p>-built so that the grill heats up quickly and also cools down quickly\u00a0for storage and transport<\/p>\n<p>-also<strong> brannfolket <\/strong>seemed to really like the grills built with little legs to protect the under side from damage<\/p>\n<p>Check out the website.\u00a0 It&#8217;s a pretty interesting and light-hearted article.
