{"id":1318,"date":"2011-11-26T19:19:28","date_gmt":"2011-11-26T19:19:28","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.transparent.com\/norwegian\/?p=1318"},"modified":"2014-08-22T18:01:20","modified_gmt":"2014-08-22T18:01:20","slug":"smorgas-chef-at-scandinavia-house-new-york-city","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.transparent.com\/norwegian\/smorgas-chef-at-scandinavia-house-new-york-city\/","title":{"rendered":"Sm\u00f6rg\u00e5s Chef at Scandinavia House, New York City"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>As Thanksgiving was just a couple of days ago and holiday parties are finding their way on my calendar, mat er temaet p\u00e5 denne tiden av \u00e5ret (food is the theme at this time of year). \u00a0I was fortunate to attend 3 Thanksgiving celebrations on Thursday, 2 of which I consumed full meals at. \u00a0Some of the <strong>mat<\/strong> we consumed include the following:<\/p>\n<p><strong>kalkun<\/strong> (turkey)<\/p>\n<p><strong>flere typer poteter<\/strong> (several types of potatoes)<\/p>\n<p><strong>gr\u00f8nne b\u00f8nner<\/strong> (green beans)<\/p>\n<p><strong>br\u00f8d<\/strong> (bread)<\/p>\n<p><strong>stuffing<\/strong> (translation?)<\/p>\n<p><strong>salat<\/strong> (salad)<\/p>\n<p><strong>gresskar pai<\/strong> (pumpkin pie)<\/p>\n<p><strong>s\u00f8tpotet pai<\/strong> (sweet potato pie)<\/p>\n<p>Thanksgiving is definitely my favorite <strong>helligdag<\/strong> (holiday) of the year because it\u00b4s all about <strong>god mat og godt selskap<\/strong> (good food and good company). \u00a0It\u00b4s not a religious <strong>hellidag<\/strong> and <strong>gaver<\/strong>\u00a0(gifts) are not typically involved.<\/p>\n<p>As you probably know, Norwegians do not celebrate Thanksgiving. \u00a0I simply have mat on the brain right now and so I\u00b4ve been searching for Norwegian restaurants to attend in various cities around the country if and when I end up there. \u00a0I discovered the Sm\u00f6rg\u00e5s Chef at Scandinavia House in New York City. \u00a0There are 3 locations in NYC:<\/p>\n<p>1) Wall Street<\/p>\n<p>2) Midtown<\/p>\n<p>3) West Village<\/p>\n<p>Both the<strong> mat<\/strong> and the <strong>atmosf\u00e6re<\/strong> (atmosphere) look and sound amazing!<\/p>\n<p>Sm\u00f6rg\u00e5s Chef \u00a0&#8220;is proud to serve a fresh and unique menu based on the principles of &#8220;New Nordic Cuisine,&#8221; which is deeply committed to using local, sustainable, and all-natural ingredients.
