\"\"<\/a>The next time you\u2019re in a Norwegian kiosk<\/strong> shopping snop<\/strong> (sweets, candies), look out for the melkesjokolade<\/strong> (milk chocolate) called \u201dEt lite eventyr<\/strong>\u201d (a little fairy-tale). There is only a single piece of chocolate inside the little yellow plastic wrapping. But then you don\u2019t buy this product for the sjokolade<\/strong> \u2013 on the back side of the plastic there\u2019s printed an easy-language Norwegian eventyr<\/strong>!<\/p>\n

TOMMELITEN<\/strong><\/p>\n

Det var en gang en kone som hadde en eneste s\u00f8nn.<\/strong> Once upon a time there was a woman who had only one son.<\/em> Han var ikke lenger enn en tommelfinger, s\u00e5 Tommeliten ble han kalt.<\/strong> He was no longer than a thumb, so he was called Thumb-little.<\/em> Da han begynte \u00e5 bli voksen, sa moren hans at n\u00e5 skulle han ut og finne seg en kone.<\/strong> When he was becoming an adult, his mother said that now he should go out and find himself a wife.<\/em> Det ville Tommeliten veldig gjerne, og de dro avsted med hest og kjerre.<\/strong> Tommeliten was very keen on that, and they left home with a horse and a cart.<\/em> F\u00f8rste m\u00e5let var kongsg\u00e5rden, for der visste mor at det bodde en flott prinsesse\u2026<\/strong> The first destination was the royal court, for there Mother knew there was a good-looking princess\u2026<\/em><\/p>\n

[Tommeliten then plays a game with his mother: He disappears, and when the mother is all in tears, he says pip pip<\/strong>, peeping forth from the horse\u2019s mane, then its ear, then its nostril\u2026]<\/p>\n

Da kom han ikke frem f\u00f8r hesten n\u00f8s, for han hadde sittet inni hestenesen.<\/strong> Then he didn\u2019t appear before the horse sneezed, for he had been sitting inside the horse\u2019s nose.<\/em> Da puttet moren hans han i en pose.<\/strong> Then his mother put him in a bag.<\/em><\/p>\n

Prinsessa var rask med \u00e5 bestemme seg og f\u00f8r noen visste ordet av det, var de mann og kone.<\/strong> The princess made a quick decision, and before anybody knew what was happening, they were husband and wife.<\/em> S\u00e5 skulle det spises middag, og det var ikke s\u00e5 enkelt for en som er s\u00e5 liten.<\/strong> Then it was dinner-time, and that wasn\u2019t easy for one who was so small.<\/em> Det gikk bra s\u00e5 lenge han kunne spise av tallerkenen.<\/strong> It went well as long as he could eat from the plate.<\/em> Verre ble det da gr\u00f8tfatet kom inn.<\/strong> It became worse when the porridge bowl was brought in.<\/em> Da m\u00e5tte han sette seg p\u00e5 kanten av fatet.<\/strong> Then he had to sit down on the edge of the bowl.<\/em> For \u00e5 n\u00e5 sm\u00f8r\u00f8yet midt uti gr\u00f8ten, m\u00e5tte han sette seg p\u00e5 kanten av sm\u00f8r\u00f8yet.<\/strong> To reach the \u201dbutter eye\u201d in the middle of the porridge, he had to sit down on the edge of the butter.<\/em> Men tenk, prinsessa kom borti han med skjeen sin, s\u00e5 han falt uti sm\u00f8r\u00f8yet og druknet.<\/strong>
\nBut lo! the princess accidentally hit him with her spoon, so he fell into the \u201dbutter eye\u201d and drowned.<\/p>\n
