All of a sudden <b>moren<\/b> (the mother) in the house entered the wood-panelled living-room balancing a plate full of steaming hot <b>vafler<\/b>. I found it a very Norwegian experience! \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n<p>Below is a <b>vaffeloppskrift<\/b> (<b>oppskrift<\/b> = recipe) that should give you a decent taste of Norway. Waffles are usually heart-shaped in Norway.<\/p><\/div><b>1 ts vaniljesukker <\/b><i>1 teaspoon of vanilla sugar<\/i><\/p>\n<p><b>1 ts kardemomme <\/b><i>1 tablespoon of cardamom<\/i><\/p>\n<p><b>0,5 ts salt <\/b><i>half a teaspoon of salt<\/i><\/p>\n<p><b>6 dl melk <\/b><i>6 decilitres (0.6 litre) of milk<\/i><\/p>\n<p><b>100 g sm\u00f8r <\/b><i>100 grams of butter<\/i><\/p>\n<p><b>3 stk (= stykker) egg <\/b><i>3 eggs<\/i><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\"><b>Slik gj\u00f8r du<\/b> (\u201dLike this you do\u201d)<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>1. Smelt sm\u00f8ret.<\/b> <i>Melt the butter.<\/i><\/p>\n<p><b>2. Bland mel, kardemomme, bakepulver og sukker i en bolle. Tilsett melk, eggene og det smeltede sm\u00f8ret. Visp.<\/b> <i>Mix flour, cardamom, baking powder and sugar in a bowl. Add milk, eggs and the melted butter. Whip.<\/i><\/p>\n<p><b>3. La vaffelr\u00f8ren hvile i ca. 20 minutter.<\/b> <i>Let the waffle dough rest for about 20 minutes.<\/i><\/p>\n<p><b>4. Varm vaffeljernet. N\u00e5 kan stekingen begynne.<\/b> <i>Heat up the waffle pan. Now the frying can begin. Server vaflene med syltet\u00f8y, r\u00f8mme eller brunost.<\/b><i> Serve the waffles with jam, <\/i><b><i>r\u00f8mme<\/i><\/b><i> (Norwegian sour cream), or <\/i><b><i>brunost<\/i><\/b><i> (Norwegian brown goat cheese).<\/i><\/p>\n<p>Jeg h\u00e5per det smaker!
