ending on so many <strong>norske ord.\u00a0 <\/strong>I remember thinking that same thought when I first <strong>begynte \u00e5 l\u00e6re norsk<\/strong> (began to learn Norwegian).\u00a0 I also remember that it was <strong>vanskelig<\/strong> (difficult) to remember how to pronounce the &#8216;e&#8217; ending, since most of the time <strong>bokstaven &#8216;e&#8217; <\/strong>is pronounced similar to &#8216;ay&#8217; <strong>p\u00e5 engelsk<\/strong> (in English).<\/p>\n<p><strong>For eksempel:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>al<span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">e<\/span>ne <\/strong>(alone), <strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">e<\/span>vighet<\/strong> (eternity), <strong>b<span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">e<\/span>ver<\/strong> (beaver), <strong>l<span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">e<\/span>der<\/strong> (leader), <strong>kr<span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">e<\/span>m<\/strong> (cream)<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;e&#8217; is also sometimes pronounced like &#8216;e&#8217; in hen, Ben, or Ken.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><strong>For eksempel<\/strong>:<\/p>\n<p><strong>gr<span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">e<\/span>nse<\/strong> (border), <strong>m<span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">e<\/span>lk<\/strong> (milk), <strong>br<span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">e<\/span>nne<\/strong> (burn), <strong>v<span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">e<\/span>rre <\/strong>(worse)<\/p>\n<p>Now, for the question about how to <strong>uttale<\/strong> (pronounce) &#8216;e&#8217; when it&#8217;s at the end of <strong>et ord&#8230;<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>For eksempel:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>most verbs in the infinitive (\u00e5) form:<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00e5 drikk<span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">e<\/span><\/strong> (to drink), <strong>\u00e5 grill<span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">e<\/span><\/strong> (to grill), <strong>\u00e5 vask<span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">e<\/span><\/strong> (to wash), <strong>\u00e5 handl<span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">e<\/span><\/strong> (to shop), <strong>\u00e5 l\u00f8p<span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">e<\/span><\/strong> (to run)<\/p>\n<p>other types of words, such as <strong>substantiver<\/strong> (nouns), <strong>adjektiver<\/strong> (adjectives), <strong>adverber<\/strong> (adverbs), og <strong>navner<\/strong> (names) end in &#8216;e&#8217;.<\/p>\n<p><strong>For eksempel<\/strong>:<\/p>\n<p><strong>still<span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">e<\/span> <\/strong>(quiet), <strong>\u00f8y<span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">e<\/span><\/strong> (eye), <strong>put<span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">e<\/span><\/strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\"> <\/span>(pillow), <strong>o.s.v.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>It may seem odd, but the &#8216;e&#8217; ending is actually pronounced the same way as the &#8216;et&#8217; ending for definite neuter nouns (<strong>skapet<\/strong>-the closet, <strong>bordet<\/strong>-the table).\u00a0 It is pronounced like &#8216;eh,&#8217; basically the same as the &#8216;e&#8217; sound in <strong>grense, melk, og brenne.\u00a0 <\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>P\u00e5 engelsk<\/strong>, we are used to not pronouncing the final &#8216;e&#8217;
