in 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympics"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>For those of you who have been watching as much of the Olympics as I have, you may have noticed that Norway has gradually made her way up the ranks to 3rd in the overall medal count, behind Germany and the United States.\u00a0 Norway has 12 medals, while Germany has 16, and the United States has a whopping 24.\u00a0 Norway has 5 <strong>gullmedaljer, 3 s\u00f8lvmedaljer, og 4\u00a0bronsemedaljer<\/strong> (5 gold medals, 3 silver medals, and 4 bronze medals).\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>As I&#8217;m writing this post, I am watching Audun Groenvold of Norway lead the round in Ski Cross.\u00a0 He took the <strong>bronsemedalje<\/strong>.\u00a0 As most of you have probably gathered, nordmenn excel especially in skiing events.\u00a0 <strong>Husker du?<\/strong>\u00a0 Do you remember?\u00a0 <strong>Nordmenn f\u00f8des p\u00e5 ski<\/strong> <strong>p\u00e5 beina<\/strong> (Norwegians are born with skis on their feet).\u00a0\u00a0 People love to joke about that.\u00a0 But for real, I think I&#8217;ve said before, that I was passed by both old and young, male and female (and I consider myself an athletic person) when I <strong>gikk p\u00e5 ski<\/strong> (went skiing) in Norway.\u00a0 So I understand the humor behind the joke because the statement might as well be true.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Ok, as I&#8217;m sitting here recovering from a cold few days sailing in Tampa Bay (attempting to return to reality), I&#8217;m watching the Olympcs and surfing the internet for interesting stories about Norway in the Vancouver\u00a0Olympics.\u00a0 Check out the <strong>antrekk<\/strong> (attire) worn by the Norwegian men&#8217;s curling team.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/a323.yahoofs.com\/ymg\/ept_sports_oly_experts__8\/ept_sports_oly_experts-382897659-1266252221.jpg?ym92wrCDQ6hxBHfO\" border=\"0\" alt=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p>In a sport where <strong>uniformer<\/strong> are typically <strong>m\u00f8rke og kjedelige<\/strong> (dark and boring), these <strong>uniformer<\/strong> are quite flashy.\u00a0 I&#8217;m not sure I&#8217;d go so far as to say they are <strong>fasjonable<\/strong> (fashionable), but certainly <strong>i\u00f8ynefallende<\/strong> (eye-catching)!\u00a0 If you want a pair too, it seems you can purchase them from a company called Loudmouth Golf for $89.95.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>In case that doesn&#8217;t interest you, perhaps imagining the 2018 Winter Olympics in Troms\u00f8 does?\u00a0 The Norwegians are ecstatic that Sochi, Russia was chosen as the host for the 2014 Winter Olympics, because Sochi surely would have been a candidate for the 2018 winter games otherwise.\u00a0 The Norwegians were also pleased that Sochi was\u00a0chosen\u00a0over Salzburg, Austria because had Salzburg been chosen, it would be unlikely that Norway would be a contender for the 2018 Winter Olympics due to the International Olympic Committee&#8217;s desire to spread the hosting cities out geographically.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>More to come on Norway in the Olympics this week!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>For
