Bojesen]<\/p><\/div>\n<p><b>Alle kjenner <\/b>(everybody knows) Nessie \u2013 the Scottish lake monster from Loch Ness. But did you know Norway has its own <b>sj\u00f8orm<\/b> [shuh-ohrm] (\u201dsea worm\u201d)? I recently was lucky enough to \u2026 well, see <b>innsj\u00f8en <\/b>(the lake) where it\u2019s supposed to live! \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n<p><b>Telemark fylke<\/b> (county) is a beautiful and varied place in the summer season, full of <b>blomster <\/b>(flowers). It\u2019s less mountainous than Western Norway, and much less populous than the <b>Oslo<\/b> area, so of course people from <b>hovedstaden <\/b>(the capital) and other nearby cities come here to camp, play sports, (wait for the sun to appear to they can) sunbathe and swim in <b>innsj\u00f8ene<\/b> or at the short coastline. For some reason, noone was swimming in <b>Seljordsvatnet <\/b>(the Seljord \u201dwater\u201d) when two family members and I were passing by\u2026<\/p>\n<p>There are many accounts of a huge <b>orm<\/b> (worm) living in the narrow lake next to the town of <b>Seljord<\/b> in central <b>Telemark<\/b>. Some people even claim to have taken <b>foto<\/b> (photos) of <b>Seljordsormen<\/b> (the Seljord worm), or <b>Selma<\/b>, as the beloved mythical beast is also called! Maybe that\u2019s why <b>ormen<\/b> is featured in the <b>kommunev\u00e5pen<\/b> (town arms).<\/p>\n<p><b>Sola var varm<\/b> (the sun was hot) above the lake when we were there, and to our great delight there was a <b>skilt<\/b> [sheelt] (sign) pointing to a <b>sj\u00f8ormt\u00e5rn <\/b>(sea worm tower) \u2013 built of wood next to the water just like a <b>fuglet\u00e5rn<\/b> (bird hide, literally \u201dbird tower\u201d)!<\/p>\n<p>Unfortunately, the worm was too shy to reveal itself to <b>alle<\/b> <b>turistene p\u00e5 stranda<\/b> (all the tourists at the beach). If you ever go there, bring a <b>kikkert<\/b> (binoculars) and <b>et \u00e5pent sinn <\/b>(an open mind).
