To really know how <b>fantastisk v\u00e5ren er<\/b>, you have to spend a <b>vinter i Norge<\/b>. Nothing compares to <b>fuglesang <\/b>(bird song) and fresh <b>v\u00e5rluft<\/b> (spring air) after months of <b>sn\u00f8<\/b> (snow) and darkness! With two visits to Norway so far this year, I\u2019ve been able to follow <b>utviklinga<\/b> (the development) up close.<\/p>\n<p>Central Europeans may leave their <b>luer<\/b> (winter caps) at home in February or early March, but in Norway <b>v\u00e5ren<\/b> usually arrives a bit later to\u00a0the party. Of course, with such an insanely long and varied country nothing is clear-cut: You might be enjoying an <b><a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.transparent.com\/norwegian\/girls-smiling-in-early-spring\/\">utepils<\/a><\/b> in Oslo while it\u2019s snowing in Troms\u00f8 \u2013 <b>eller omvendt <\/b>(or the other way around)!<\/p>\n<p><b>P\u00e5 Vestlandet<\/b> (in Western Norway), where I\u2019ve been living, it\u2019s hard to tell where <b>vinteren slutter<\/b> (winter ends). Down by <b>fjorden<\/b> there may be <b>v\u00e5rblomster<\/b> (spring flowers) and nice <b>regnv\u00e6r<\/b> (rain weather) for the <b>fisketur<\/b> (fishing trip). Then you go 500 metres <b>opp p\u00e5 fjellet<\/b> (up in the mountains), and there\u2019s still plenty of snow for skiing! \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n<p><b>Fugler<\/b> (birds) are a classical <b>v\u00e5rtegn<\/b> (\u201dspring sign\u201d). Up north birds are a bit like tourists who only come when <b>sola skinner<\/b> (the sun is shining). Lots of birds spend their winter in Africa, then return to Norway when <b>v\u00e6ret<\/b> (the weather) is a bit more pleasant.
