For decades, <b>TV-titting<\/b> [TEH VEH teetting] (\u201dthe watching of television\u201d) has been an important part of <b>jula<\/b> (Christmas) for lots of <b>norske familier<\/b> (Norwegian families). <b>N\u00e5r hele familien samles<\/b> (when the whole family is gathered) <b>foran fjernsynet<\/b> (in front of the television set), accompanied by some tasty <b>julesnop<\/b> (Christmas candy), everybody is able to <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.transparent.com\/norwegian\/norwegians-love-kos\/\"><b>kose seg<\/b><\/a> (have a good time). Here are three Xmas time \u201dtv staples\u201d in Norway:<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">\u2022 Even if it\u2019s not so exotic for American learners, many Norwegian children are really looking forward to watching <b>Disney-tegnefilm<\/b> (Disney cartoons) on <b>julaften<\/b> (Christmas Eve)! \ud83d\ude42 The traditional show is called <b>\u201dDonald Duck og vennene hans\u201d<\/b> (Donald Duck and his friends). Of course, those friends include <b>Mikke Mus <\/b>(Mickey Mouse), <b>Snipp og Snapp <\/b>(Chip and Dale), <b>Langbein <\/b>(Goofy), and <b>Pluto<\/b>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">\u2022 Every evening from December 1<span class=\"s1\"><sup>st<\/sup><\/span> to <b>julaften<\/b>, a 24-episode <b>julekalender<\/b> (Advent calendar) is shown by a couple of Norwegian <b>TV-kanaler <\/b>(tv channels), including the \u201dnational station\u201d <b>NRK<\/b> (= <b>Norsk RiksKringkasting<\/b> = Broadcasting of the Norwegian Realm). <span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>This year Norwegian <b>barn og voksne<\/b> (children and adults) have been mesmerized by <a href=\"https:\/\/tv.nrk.no\/serie\/snoefall\"><b>Sn\u00f8fall<\/b><\/a> (\u201dSnow Fall\u201d), which is a fantasy story about Selma, <b>ei lita jente fra \u00d8stlandet<\/b> (a small girl from Eastern Norway). Selma\u2019s parents have died, and she\u2019s living a really dull life together with her dog and the strict woman Ruth. Then one day she finds a magical passage that leads her to the wonderful world of <b>julenissen<\/b> (Father Christmas)\u2026<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">\u2022 A really special tv tradition is \u2026 <b>Tre n\u00f8tter til Askepott <\/b>(Three Nuts for Cinderella)!<b> <\/b>\ud83d\ude42 It\u2019s a Czech version of the Cinderella story, which was filmed in 1973. I have no idea how it happened, but for some reason it has become a <b>fast julefilm<\/b> (fixed\u00a0Xmas movie) for really many Norwegians.
