They\u2019re like their own miniature sentences, loaded with meaning. (The meaning of <i>Yes!<\/i> could be \u201dI\u2019m so happy we won the match!\u201d) Here are some common Norwegian <b>interjeksjoner<\/b>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><b><i>Au<\/i>, det gjorde vondt! <\/b>(<i>Ouch<\/i>, that hurt!)<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><b>Sursild, <i>\u00e6sj<\/i>, s\u00e5 ekkelt! <\/b>(Sour herrings, <i>yuck<\/i>, how disgusting!)<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><b><i>Hysj<\/i>, n\u00e5 m\u00e5 dere v\u00e6re stille! <\/b>(<i>Hush<\/i>, you have to be quiet now!)<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><b>Har jeg ikke sagt at du m\u00e5 ta av deg skoene f\u00f8r du g\u00e5r inn! <i>Fy!<\/i><\/b><i> <\/i>(Haven\u2019t I said that you have to take off your shoes before entering! <i>Shame!<\/i>)<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><b><i>Hurra<\/i> for brudeparet!<\/b> (Cheers\/\u201d<i>hurrah<\/i>\u201d for the newly-weds!)<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><b><i>Heia <\/i>Norge!<\/b> (<i>Go<\/i> Norway! \u2013 at sports events \ud83d\ude42<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>)<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><b><i>Ja<\/i>! Vi gjorde det!<i> <\/i><\/b>(<i>Yes<\/i>! We did it!)<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><b><i>Nei<\/i>! Det er ikke sant! <\/b>(Oh <i>no<\/i>! That can\u2019t be true!)<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><b><i>Tja<\/i>, hva skal vi si? Tjue stykker? <\/b>(<i>Well<\/i>, what to say [= choose]? Twenty pieces?)<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><b><i>Hm\u2026 <\/i>Dette er veldig rart\u2026<\/b> (<i>Hm\u2026<\/i> This is really strange!)<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><b><i>\u00d8h, <\/i>jeg vet ikke helt, jeg.<\/b> (<i>Um<\/i>, I don\u2019t really know about that\u2026)<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><b><i>\u00c5<\/i>, er det deg?<\/b> (<i>Oh, <\/i>is it you?)<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><b><i>Greit, <\/i>da sier vi det.<\/b> (<i>Alright<\/i>, that\u2019s settled then.)<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><b><i>Oi, oi <\/i>for en dag! <\/b>(\u201dWhat a day, what a day!\u201d)<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">Sometimes interjections are also used to call out somebody\u2019s attention:<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><b><i>Hei! <\/i>Hvem er du? <\/b>(<i>Hi!<\/i> Who\u2019re you?)<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><b><i>Hallo! <\/i>Du mistet lommeboken din!<\/b> (<i>Hey!<\/i> You lost your wallet!)<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><b><i>Sk\u00e5l, <\/i>alle sammen! <\/b>(<i>Cheers<\/i>, everybody!)<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">Even animal and nature sounds are a kind of interjections\u2026 (Although I\u2019m not quite sure what feeling you express when you say them! Maybe the \u201dfeeling of being a cow\u201d or something? \ud83d\ude42<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>)<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><b>Kua sier m\u00f8. Grisen sier n\u00f8ff. Sauen sier b\u00e6. Hunden sier voff.
