Fortunately, this is normally straightforward and easy \u2013 you don\u2019t need to <strong>prute p\u00e5 prisene<\/strong> (bargain) or discuss a lot with the people in <strong>butikken<\/strong> (the shop). But be prepared for some angry price tags! \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n<p>In Norwegian, you can either <strong>gj\u00f8re innkj\u00f8p <\/strong>(\u201ddo buy-ins\u201d) or <strong>g\u00e5<\/strong> <strong>p\u00e5<\/strong> <strong>shopping<\/strong> (which is a bit less goal-oriented and more like \u201dshopping around for cool stuff\u201d) \u2013 or go the short route and say <strong>kj\u00f8pe inn<\/strong> (\u201dbuy in\u201d) or <strong>shoppe<\/strong>. As a <strong>kunde<\/strong> [k<em>oo<\/em>n-deh] (customer) you usually <strong>betaler<\/strong> [beTA-ler] (pay) an <strong>ekspedient<\/strong> (shop assistant).<\/p>\n<p>There are lots of <strong>spennende<\/strong> <strong>ting<\/strong> (interesting things) to buy in Norway. Tourists often go for <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.transparent.com\/norwegian\/souvenir-hunting-in-norway\/\"><strong>suvenirer<\/strong><\/a> such as <strong>brunost<\/strong> (brown cheese \u2013 which tastes a bit like caramel), <strong>norsk melkesjokolade<\/strong> (Norwegian milk chocolate) or <strong>strikkegensere<\/strong> (knitted jumpers). On a cold day it can be nice to <strong>g\u00e5 p\u00e5 oppdagelsesferd<\/strong> (go on an exploration trip) in the local <strong>bokhandel<\/strong> (bookstore), <strong>klesbutikk<\/strong> (clothes store), <strong>kiosk<\/strong>, <strong>bakeri<\/strong> (bakery), <strong>musikkforretning<\/strong> (music store), <strong>matbutikk<\/strong> (food shop), <strong>lekebutikk<\/strong> (toy store), <strong>apotek<\/strong> [apoTEK] (farmacy) and even <strong>supermarked<\/strong>. And oh, if you want to buy alcohol stronger than beer, that\u2019s done in a shop called <strong>Vinmonopolet<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Here\u2019s a little shopping dialogue which might be useful:<\/p>\n<p>E (ekspedient): <strong>Hei! Hva kan jeg hjelpe deg med? <\/strong>(Hello, how can I help you?)<br \/>\nK (kunde): <strong>Hvor mye koster et stort troll? <\/strong>(How much does the big troll cost?)<br \/>\nE: <strong>Skal vi se\u2026 Det blir 80 kroner, takk. Betaler du med kort eller kontant?<\/strong> (Let\u2019s see\u2026 That\u2019s 80 Kroner, please. Do you pay by cash or card?)<br \/>\nK: <strong>Tar dere visa-kort? <\/strong>(Do you accept VISA card?)<br \/>\nE: <strong>Selvsagt. V\u00e6r s\u00e5 god! Her er kvitteringa.
