Still, when the topic does pop up, it\u2019s good to be prepared! \ud83d\ude42 Otherwise, the knowledge of how to say <strong>datoer<\/strong> (dates) could come handy when planning \u2026 dates.<\/p>\n<p>You can ask the question itself in two different ways \u2013 both meaning \u201dwhen\u2019s your birthday\u201d:<br \/>\n<strong>N\u00e5r er bursdagen din? <\/strong>(Also: <strong>N\u00e5r har du bursdag?<\/strong>)<br \/>\n<strong>N\u00e5r er f\u00f8dselsdagen din?<\/strong><br \/>\nSome would say <strong>bursdag<\/strong> is a bit more colloquial or \u201deveryday-ish\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>As you probably know, there are <strong>tolv m\u00e5neder<\/strong> (twelve months), also in Norwegian! \ud83d\ude42 The names are quite similar to the English ones, except that they don\u2019t start with a capital letter (unless at the beginning of a new sentence!)<br \/>\n<strong>januar <\/strong>[yan<em>oo<\/em>ar]<br \/>\n<strong>februar, mars<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>april <\/strong>[aprEEL]<br \/>\n<strong>mai<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>juni <\/strong>[Y<em>OO<\/em>nee]<br \/>\n<strong>juli <\/strong>[Y<em>OO<\/em>lee]<br \/>\n<strong>august<\/strong> [<em>av<\/em>G<em>OO<\/em>ST]<br \/>\n<strong>september, oktober, november, desember<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Jeg har bursdag 6. januar\/3. august\/21. november!<\/strong> [\u201dI\u2019ve got birthday\u201d Jan. 6th, Aug. 3rd, Nov. 21st]<\/p>\n<p>As you can see, <em>writing<\/em> dates in Norwegian is <strong>kjempelett<\/strong> (super easy) \u2013 even easier than in English! \ud83d\ude42 In order to pronounce them, we need <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.transparent.com\/norwegian\/norwegian-numbers-1-100-2\/\"><strong>ordenstallene<\/strong><\/a> (the ordinal numbers) from 1 to 31. Since we\u2019re talking about specific dates (\u201d<em>the<\/em> 6th of January\u201d rather than \u201d<em>a<\/em> 6th of January\u201d), all the <strong>ordenstall<\/strong> take the <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.transparent.com\/norwegian\/what-is-up-with-the-e-ending\/\"><strong>e-<\/strong> ending<\/a> \u2013 so it is <strong>f\u00f8rste<\/strong> instead of <strong>f\u00f8rst<\/strong>. <em>(You do remember this ending for adjectives etc. describing specific nouns, right?
