Before you reach for your <strong>pledd<\/strong> (blankets) and <strong>fjernkontroll<\/strong> (remote), here\u2019s a reminder to keep moving\u2026<\/p>\n<p><strong>Vi kan bevege oss p\u00e5 mange ulike m\u00e5ter.<\/strong> (We can move in many different ways.) Legs and feet make it possible <strong>\u00e5 g\u00e5, \u00e5 l\u00f8pe, \u00e5 hoppe, \u00e5 sparke<\/strong> (to walk, to run, to jump, to kick). Some special varieties include:<\/p>\n<p><strong>De vandret i dagevis<\/strong> (They walked for days)<br \/>\n<strong>Katten springer [sprang \u2013 har sprunget] ut av vinduet <\/strong>(The cat jumps [jumped \u2013 has jumped] out the window)<br \/>\n<strong>Jentene hinket i friminuttet<\/strong> (The girls were hopping on one foot in the school break)<br \/>\n<strong>Jeg snublet p\u00e5 vei inn i rommet<\/strong> (I stumbled on my way into the room)<br \/>\n<strong>Vi lister oss s\u00e5 stilt p\u00e5 t\u00e5 n\u00e5r vi skal ut og r\u00f8ve<\/strong> (\u201dWe\u2019re tiptoeing so quietly when we\u2019re about to rob\u201d \u2013 the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?sa=t&amp;rct=j&amp;q=&amp;esrc=s&amp;source=web&amp;cd=2&amp;cad=rja&amp;uact=8&amp;ved=2ahUKEwj_-dKGrPnkAhVG4aQKHXgwBTAQwqsBMAF6BAgJEAQ&amp;url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.youtube.com%2Fwatch%3Fv%3D-l8vI7YHIVI&amp;usg=AOvVaw3fLD4yD0YEyUVafejZhSW3\">robbers\u2019 song<\/a> from the Norwegian children\u2019s classic <strong>Folk og r\u00f8vere i Kardemomme by<\/strong>, \u201dPeople and Robbers in Kardemomme Town\u201d, by Thorbj\u00f8rn Egner)<\/p>\n<p>Arms and hands further enable us <strong>\u00e5 gripe, \u00e5 l\u00f8fte, \u00e5 b\u00e6re, \u00e5 klatre, \u00e5 sv\u00f8mme, \u00e5 gi noen en klem<\/strong> (to catch, to lift, to carry, to climb, to swim, to give somebody a hug):<br \/>\n<strong>Kongefamilien vinker fra balkongen.<\/strong> (The royal family is waving from the balcony.)<br \/>\n<strong>Hun veivet med armene. <\/strong>(She was waving her arms.)<br \/>\n<strong>De knipset til musikken.<\/strong> (They were snapping their fingers to the music.)<br \/>\n<strong>Vi klapper i hendene! <\/strong>(We\u2019re clapping our hands! \u2013 a line from the song <strong>O jul med din glede, \u201d<\/strong>Oh Christmas with Your Joy\u201d)<\/p>\n<p>Of course there are countless other ways to move, but for <strong>bevegelser<\/strong> (movements) excluding our legs\/feet and arms\/hands, the vocabulary is more limited. We may <strong>trekke p\u00e5 skuldrene<\/strong> (shrug our shoulders), <strong>nikke<\/strong> (nod), <strong>riste p\u00e5 hodet<\/strong> (shake our head), <strong>rynke pannen <\/strong>(knit our brows), <strong>puste inn og ut<\/strong> (breathe in and out), <strong>skyte rygg som en katt<\/strong> (arch our backs like a cat), <strong>vrikke med hoftene<\/strong> (wiggle our hips).
