Only this month, however, <strong>sn\u00f8en<\/strong> (the snow) decided to grace large parts of <strong>Norge<\/strong>. Let\u2019s get outside and have some fun!<\/p>\n<p><strong>Det er ikke s\u00e5 vanskelig \u00e5 g\u00e5 p\u00e5 sk\u00f8yter <\/strong>[shoyter]<strong>.<\/strong> (Ice skating is not that hard.) You only need <strong>gode sk\u00f8yter<\/strong> (good skates) and <strong>islagt vann <\/strong>(ice-covered water). Remember to check <strong>om isen er trygg<\/strong> (if the ice is safe). A perfectly <strong>glatt<\/strong> (slippery) surface is called <strong>st\u00e5lis<\/strong> (\u2019steel ice\u2019) in Norwegian, and it needs a depth of at least 10 cm (4 inches) to safely carry an adult. \ud83d\ude42 Be sure to bring friends or family, so you can help each other <strong>holde balansen<\/strong> (keep your balance). Quick tip: Bring a <strong>sparkst\u00f8tting<\/strong> (kicksled) as a mobile seat if your legs start hurting and you need a <strong>pause<\/strong> [pavseh].<\/p>\n<p><strong>Sk\u00f8yting<\/strong> [shoyting] is even a <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.transparent.com\/norwegian\/ut-pa-ski\/\">skiing<\/a> technique! You keep your feet and your <strong>ski<\/strong> [she] (skis) in a V shape as you move forward, putting your weight on alternatively your right and your left <strong>fot<\/strong> [foot] and sliding a little bit outwards to either side, as if you were skating on ice. If you\u2019re running downhill or in <strong>preparerte l\u00f8yper<\/strong> (prepared ski runs), you of course keep your skis neatly parallel and use your <strong>staver<\/strong> (ski sticks) to move on. \ud83d\ude42 <strong>Brems<\/strong> (brake) by moving <strong>skituppene <\/strong>(the \u201dpointy ends\u201d of your skis) towards each other or by quickly changing direction.
