So the second to the last post\u00a0focused on\u00a0Norwegian grunntall <\/strong>(cardinal numbers) 1-100.\u00a0 I feel that it is important to teach you the ordenstall<\/strong> (orddinal numbers) as well.\u00a0 Think about how often you say ‘first’ or ‘thirteenth.’\u00a0 We use ordenstall<\/strong> all the time.\u00a0 Without further ado, I present to you Norwegian ordenstall<\/strong> 1-1.000.000:<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

Notice after the # 6, a pattern develops that holds true for most of the rest of the numbers.\u00a0 This pattern is the suffix ‘ende<\/strong>,’ much like the ‘th’ suffix\u00a0in English ordinal numbers (sixth, seventh, eleventh…).<\/p>\n

Like the grunntall<\/strong> (cardinal numbers), compound numbers such as 21st, 22nd, 34th, etc. are made by taking the cardinal form of 20 or 30 or 40 and simply adding the additional number in the ordinal form (i.e. 25th would be tjuefemte<\/strong>).<\/p>\n
