{"id":462,"date":"2010-08-10T20:26:02","date_gmt":"2010-08-10T20:26:02","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.transparent.com\/norwegian\/?p=462"},"modified":"2010-08-14T11:40:11","modified_gmt":"2010-08-14T11:40:11","slug":"picking-berries-in-norway","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.transparent.com\/norwegian\/picking-berries-in-norway\/","title":{"rendered":"Picking berries in Norway"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"attachment_464\" style=\"width: 235px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft post-item__attachment\"><a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.transparent.com\/norwegian\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/14\/2010\/08\/IMG_01181.jpg\" aria-label=\"IMG 01181 225x300\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-464\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-464\" title=\"IMG_0118\"  alt=\"\" width=\"225\" height=\"300\" \/ src=\"https:\/\/blogs.transparent.com\/norwegian\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/14\/2010\/08\/IMG_01181-225x300.jpg\"><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-464\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">molteb\u00e6r<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Oh how I love to <strong>plukke b\u00e6r<\/strong> (pick berries). \u00a0Believe it or not, I refused to eat <strong>frukt<\/strong> (fruit) up until college. \u00a0It was something about the texture that I absolutely despised. \u00a0To this day, I will never understand how I went 18 years without liking <strong>frukt<\/strong>. \u00a0I drank fruktjus (fruit juice), but that\u00b4s certainly not the same as<strong> ekte frukt <\/strong>(real fruit). \u00a0In fact, isn\u00b4t it recommended now by doctors to take it easy on <strong>jus <\/strong>because there is so much <strong>sukker <\/strong>(sugar) in it?<\/p>\n<p>It\u00b4s a good thing I decided to force myself to eat <strong>frukt <\/strong>once I got to college. \u00a0I\u00b4m sure I became <strong>sunnere <\/strong>(healthier) after the first doses of vitamin A, B, and C. \u00a0I like almost all kinds of <strong>frukt<\/strong>. \u00a0<strong>Her finner du en liste over flere typer frukt<\/strong> (Here \u00a0\u00a0you\u00b4ll find a list of several types of fruit):<\/p>\n<p><strong>banan<\/strong>-banana (that one was easy)<\/p>\n<p><strong>appelsin<\/strong>-orange (not so easy, doesn\u00b4t it seem like it should be \u00b4apple\u00b4?<\/p>\n<p><strong>eple<\/strong>-eple<\/p>\n<p><strong>ananas<\/strong>-pineapple<\/p>\n<p><strong>druer<\/strong>-grapes<\/p>\n<p><strong>fersken<\/strong>-peach<\/p>\n<p><strong>vannmelo<\/strong><strong>n<\/strong>-watermelon<\/p>\n<p>and my personal favorites-<strong>b\u00e6r:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>bringeb\u00e6r<\/strong>-raspberries<\/p>\n<p><strong>jordb\u00e6r<\/strong>-strawberries<\/p>\n<p><strong>bl\u00e5b\u00e6r<\/strong>-blueberries<\/p>\n<p><strong>tytteb\u00e6r<\/strong>-lingonberries<\/p>\n<p><strong>molteb\u00e6r<\/strong>-cloudberries<\/p>\n<p><strong>kirseb\u00e6r<\/strong>-cherries<\/p>\n<p><strong>kr\u00e5keb\u00e6r<\/strong>-crowberries<\/p>\n<p>It would not be surprising if you have not heard of <strong>kr\u00e5keb\u00e6r<\/strong> or <strong>molteb\u00e6r<\/strong> before-I sure hadn\u00b4t until I lived in Norway for the first time. \u00a0These two types of b\u00e6r are only found in the far north. \u00a0<strong>Molteb\u00e6r<\/strong> for the most part are only found north of the arctic circle and <strong>kr\u00e5keb\u00e6r<\/strong> are found in the far north, as well as the far south of South America. \u00a0I have not tried <strong>kr\u00e5keb\u00e6r<\/strong> yet, but I saw them the other day and they look kind of like<strong> bl\u00e5b\u00e6r<\/strong> except they are much darker, almost black, but roughly the same size. <strong> Molteb\u00e6r<\/strong>, on the other hand, resemble <strong>bringeb\u00e6r<\/strong>, except they are typically larger, are more orange-pink in color, and taste slightly like an <strong>eple<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>I was at the foot of a <strong>fjell <\/strong>(mountain) yesterday and was on a mission to <strong>plukke bl\u00e5b\u00e6r<\/strong>. \u00a0It was very unsuccessful. \u00a0Due to the cold and wet summer here in northern Norway,<strong> b\u00e6r<\/strong> have not become <strong>modne <\/strong>(ripe) yet. \u00a0Some of the <strong>bl\u00e5b\u00e6r<\/strong> that I picked looked alright, but they were not<strong> s\u00f8t<\/strong> (sweet) at all-bummer.<\/p>\n<p>I remember when I lived in Oslo 4 years ago, I housesat for a friend about an hour outside of Oslo in the mountains and I found gobs and gobs of <strong>ville jordb\u00e6r <\/strong>(wild strawberries). \u00a0They are tiny and bright red and <strong>deilig <\/strong>(delicious)!<\/p>\n<p><strong>Hvilket b\u00e6r er ditt favoritt?
