{"id":564,"date":"2010-09-15T14:43:34","date_gmt":"2010-09-15T14:43:34","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.transparent.com\/norwegian\/?p=564"},"modified":"2010-09-15T14:43:34","modified_gmt":"2010-09-15T14:43:34","slug":"norwegians-are-generally-in-great-shape","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.transparent.com\/norwegian\/norwegians-are-generally-in-great-shape\/","title":{"rendered":"Norwegians are generally in great shape!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.transparent.com\/norwegian\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/14\/2010\/09\/IMG_1122.jpg\" aria-label=\"IMG 1122 300x225\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-565\" title=\"IMG_1122\"  alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" \/ src=\"https:\/\/blogs.transparent.com\/norwegian\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/14\/2010\/09\/IMG_1122-300x225.jpg\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The<strong> jakttur <\/strong>(hunting trip) that I just returned from has confirmed my belief that <strong>nordmenn<\/strong> are generally in very good shape. \u00a0This <strong>tur<\/strong> is an annual tradition for this group and most of the guys hike around their<strong> hytter <\/strong>(cabins) or <strong>g\u00e5 p\u00e5 ski<\/strong> (ski) or some other activity, but several of them literally don\u00b4t engage in any other serious physical activities all year round (or are even overweight). \u00a0But, to my surprise, it apparently doesn\u00b4t matter! \u00a0They can hike up and down mountains just as well as my friend and I who are young and in fairly good shape!<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.transparent.com\/norwegian\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/14\/2010\/09\/IMG_1098.jpg\" aria-label=\"IMG 1098 300x225\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-566\" title=\"IMG_1098\"  alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" \/ src=\"https:\/\/blogs.transparent.com\/norwegian\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/14\/2010\/09\/IMG_1098-300x225.jpg\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The first day we walked about 3.5 hours up some pretty steep terrain at the beginning of the <strong>fjell<\/strong>, and then some more to get over the <strong>fjell <\/strong>and down to the <strong>hytter<\/strong>. \u00a0I don\u00b4t think anyone drank <strong>vann <\/strong>(water), but rather a handful of <strong>pils<\/strong> and maybe a couple shots of J\u00e6germeister. \u00a0I heard a couple moans and groans, but not as much as I would have thought for old, stiff, and dehydrated men!<\/p>\n<p>The second day <strong>p\u00e5 fjellet <\/strong>we were out for 10 hours. \u00a0Sure, there were breaks to <strong>ete litt<\/strong> (eat a bit), <strong>drikke noe<\/strong> (drink something), <strong>snakke om vi hadde sett ryper og hvor<\/strong> (talk about if we had seen grouse and where), <strong>og kvile <\/strong>(rest). \u00a0Even so, I was very impressed at how everyone managed to hike around<strong> fjellet<\/strong> for so long with heavy <strong>ryggsekker <\/strong>on some pretty steep terrain.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.transparent.com\/norwegian\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/14\/2010\/09\/IMG_1026.jpg\" aria-label=\"IMG 1026 300x225\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-567\" title=\"IMG_1026\"  alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" \/ src=\"https:\/\/blogs.transparent.com\/norwegian\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/14\/2010\/09\/IMG_1026-300x225.jpg\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p>After one of the guys got taken by <strong>helikopter<\/strong> from the <strong>j\u00e6gerghytte <\/strong>to Harstad, his <strong>ryggsekk<\/strong> with all of his stuff was still there. \u00a0One of the guys <strong>som hadde ikke g\u00e5tt p\u00e5 jakt<\/strong> (hadn\u00b4t been hunting) for 25 years and <strong>hadde ikke gjort noe fysisk<\/strong> (and hadn\u00b4t done anything physical) for a year was nice enough to take the other guy\u00b4s<strong> ryggsekk<\/strong> down the mountain to him.
