{"id":597,"date":"2010-10-07T19:31:05","date_gmt":"2010-10-07T19:31:05","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.transparent.com\/norwegian\/?p=597"},"modified":"2010-10-07T19:31:05","modified_gmt":"2010-10-07T19:31:05","slug":"returning-home-from-norway","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.transparent.com\/norwegian\/returning-home-from-norway\/","title":{"rendered":"Returning home from Norway"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I just returned home to MN from Norway yesterday and boy was it a <strong>lang dag<\/strong> (long day), starting with the very first part of the <strong>reise <\/strong>(journey). \u00a0My flight was scheduled to leave Bergen at 10:40 am en route to Amsterdam. \u00a0<strong>Flesland<\/strong>, the <strong>flyplass<\/strong> in Bergen is only a 25 min. drive from the city center, so I thought I would have plenty of time if I <strong>bestilte drosje<\/strong> (ordered a taxi) about 8am and either take it all the way to the <strong>flyplass<\/strong> or take it just a mile to the <strong>flybuss bussholdeplass <\/strong>(airport bus stop) and hop on that. \u00a0I thought this would be the easiest and least stressful part of my <strong>reise<\/strong>. \u00a0<strong>Absolutt <\/strong>not the case!<\/p>\n<p>So I called a <strong>drosje<\/strong> at quarter to 8 and it was supposed to be on the way shortly. \u00a020 minutes and no <strong>drosje<\/strong> later, I called again and the woman said, \u00a8<strong>Beklager, men det er store problemer i byen akkurat n\u00e5. \u00a0Det kan hende det tar en time f\u00f8r du kan hentes.<\/strong>\u00a8 \u00a8Sorry, there are big problems in the city right now. \u00a0It\u00b4s possible that it will take an hour before you are picked up.\u00a8 \u00a0Greaaaatt&#8230;.so I called another drosje service. \u00a0Same deal, it was supposed to be there shortly and wasn\u00b4t. \u00a0So I called them back and the woman said \u00a8<strong>Beklager, men det er ingen som vil ta en hund<\/strong>.\u00a8Sorry, but nobody wants to take a dog.\u00a8 I don\u00b4t know about you, but I think it\u00b4s ridiculous that the drivers can just decide whether they want to take a dog in their car or not. \u00a0Shouldn\u00b4t it either be allowed or not be allowed?<\/p>\n<p>So I literally had no choice but to wake up my friend who was to stay another day and demand a <span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">huge<\/span> favor. \u00a0It was about a mile from the <strong>leilighet<\/strong> (apartment) we were staying in to the <strong>flybuss bussholdeplass<\/strong>. \u00a0We had to walk and carry all of my stuff (including a sv\u00e6r-huge dog kennel) in the pouring rain. \u00a0It was definitely a site to see. \u00a0So, 1.5 hours after I had called the first <strong>drosje<\/strong>, we were at the <strong>flyplass<\/strong> with just over an hour to spare before my flight took off. \u00a0Just enough time to check my <strong>hund <\/strong>in and proceed to the gate.<\/p>\n<p>This was the first time in a while flying with KLM. \u00a0Although the 8+ hr. leg from Amsterdam to Minneapolis was really long, I appreciated the free beverages and food offered:) \u00a0I guess I didn&#8217;t know any airlines did that anymore!<\/p>\n<p>To my great surprise, I got through the Minneapolis airport in record time-literally faster than any time I&#8217;ve flown domestically, despite the fact that I had my dog and had been gone for 3 months!
