{"id":633,"date":"2010-11-09T23:11:05","date_gmt":"2010-11-09T23:11:05","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.transparent.com\/norwegian\/?p=633"},"modified":"2014-08-21T20:57:22","modified_gmt":"2014-08-21T20:57:22","slug":"norwegian-tongue-twisters","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.transparent.com\/norwegian\/norwegian-tongue-twisters\/","title":{"rendered":"Norwegian Tongue Twisters"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Since I posted a question about Norwegian tongue twisters on facebook last week, I think I should do the topic justice and write a post. \u00a0Some of you had some great ones to share with all of us! \u00a0I love tongue twisters even if they are in languages I can\u00b4t understand. \u00a0It\u00b4s just funny to literally not be able to move your mouth in a natural way to look and sound normal when you say something.<\/p>\n<p>One very popular tongue twister is this:<\/p>\n<p><strong>Du ska ikkje kalle Kalle for Kalle, selv om moren til Kalle kallar Kalle for Kalle, ska&#8217;kje du kalle Kalle for Kalle, for Kalle hetar egentlig Karl.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Translation: \u00a0You&#8217;re not supposed to call Kalle for Kalle, even though Kalle&#8217;s mother calls Kalle for Kalle, aren&#8217;t you supposed to call Kalle for Kalle, because Kalle&#8217;s real name is Karl.<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00c5tte kopper upoppet popkorn<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Translation: \u00a08 cups of unpopped popcorn.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Byens beste baker Bj\u00f8rn Brun, baker bare brune brendte berlinerboller.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Translation: \u00a0They city\u00b4s best baker Bj\u00f8rn Brun only bakes brown burnt berlin rolls.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Fisker&#8217;n Finn fiska fersk fisk forige fredag.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Translation: The fisherman Finn fished fresh fish last Friday.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Det var en gang en sebra som ikke kunne se bra.<br \/>\nS\u00e5 gikk han til en sebra som kunne se bra.<br \/>\nS\u00e5 l\u00e6rte den sebraen som kunne se bra,<br \/>\nden sebraen som ikke kunne se bra \u00e5 se bra!<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Translation: There once was a zebra that couldn\u00b4t see well. \u00a0So he went to a zebra that could see well. \u00a0Then the zebra that could see well taught the zebra that couldn\u00b4t see well to see well!<\/p>\n<p><strong>Kristine kj\u00f8per kj\u00f8ttkaker hos kj\u00f8pmannen i Kjellstad.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Translation: Kristine buys meat cakes at the storekeeper in Kjellstad.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Lille snille Pernille griller piller p\u00e5 Nilles grill, mens lille Ville triller Pernilles snille krokodille som spiller trekkspill.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Translation: Little nice Pernille grills pills on Nille\u00b4s grill while little Ville rolls Pernille\u00b4s nice crocodile that plays the accordion.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Nye b\u00f8rster b\u00f8rster bedre enn gamle b\u00f8rster b\u00f8rster.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Translation: New brushes brush better than old brushes brush.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Fem flate flyndrer p\u00e5 et flatt fat.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Translation: Five fat fishes on a fat plate.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Leika d\u00e5kk\u00e5 d\u00e5kk\u00e5 m\u00e6 d\u00e5kk\u00e5 d\u00e5kk\u00e5 d\u00e5?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Translation: Are you playing with dolls, are you?<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00c6 e i A. \u00a0\u00c6 e i A \u00e6 \u00e5!<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Translation:\u00a0The school inspector asks, &#8220;which class are you in?&#8221; the answer is &#8220;I am in A&#8221; (\u00c6 e i A) then he asks another boy &#8220;what class are you in then&#8221; he answers &#8220;I am in A I too&#8221; (\u00c6 e i A \u00e6 \u00e5).<\/p>\n<p>Do you think you can pronounce any of these??
