Norwegian meieri<\/strong> (dairy) is amazing. \u00a0The ost <\/strong>(cheese), yogurt, melk <\/strong>(milk), egg–the whole bit-utrolig godt <\/strong>(unbelieveably good)!! \u00a0Tine<\/strong><\/em>, one of the 12 agricultural cooperatives in Norway, nearly has a monopoly over the meieri <\/strong>industry. \u00a0The majority of meieri produkter <\/strong>you find in Norwegian matbutikker <\/strong>(grocery stores) are made by Tine. \u00a0Tine<\/strong><\/em> has a number of subsidiaries as well, including Diplom-Is (Scandinavia\u00b4s largest producer of ice cream), Norseland Inc. <\/strong>(distributes cheeses in Canada and the U.S.), Fjordland<\/strong> (readymade food company), FellesJuice<\/strong> (juice and soft drinks), OsteCompagniet<\/strong> (cheese), Maritex<\/strong> (fish oil products), Salmon Brands<\/strong>, \u00a0and several more.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n See Tine\u00b4s<\/strong><\/em> website to see a complete list of Tine<\/strong><\/em> produkter <\/strong>including the aforementioned produkter<\/strong>, as well as r\u00f8mme<\/strong> (sour cream), fl\u00f8te <\/strong>(cream-like heavy cream), sm\u00f8r <\/strong>(butter), deiger <\/strong>(doughs) desserter<\/strong>, and drikker.<\/strong><\/p>\n Luckily for Tine<\/strong><\/em>, Norway did not enter the E.U. \u00a0Had Norway joined the E.U., Tine <\/strong><\/em>would have had a lot of international competition in the dairy market in Norway. \u00a0Out of all of the meieri <\/strong>brands I have tried, Tine <\/strong><\/em>is definitely my favorite. \u00a0I always really look forward to eating a lot of meieri<\/strong> when I go to Norway and I always get disappointed when I come home and I can\u00b4t get Tine<\/em><\/strong> products. \u00a0I think my favorite meieri <\/strong>product in Norway is Tine<\/strong><\/em> yogurt. \u00a0The yogurt is so much better than any yogurt I\u00b4ve been able to find here in the U.S. \u00a0Tine<\/em><\/strong> yogurt is sooooo creamy and good.<\/p>\n
