Hvordan er v\u00e6ret i dag? <\/strong> How is the weather today? \u00a0Similar to where I come from in the Midwest, v\u00e6ret<\/strong> is definitely an important topic of conversation in Norway. \u00a0Right now, v\u00e6ret<\/strong> is an important conversation for many people throughout the world, especially the Southern part of the U.S. \u00a0The amount of devastation caused by the recent tornadoes is absolutely unbelievable. \u00a0I know someone who\u00b4s son goes to college in Tuscaloosa, which was hit very hard a couple of days ago. \u00a0We experience tornadoes in MN, but never have we experienced hundreds of them in a matter of weeks like the South has recently. \u00a0And let\u00b4s not forget about the tsunami in Japan.<\/p>\n

Here in MN we experience nearly all types of v\u00e6r <\/strong>as we have 4 very distinct seasons. \u00a0It gets reeeeaally kaldt om vinteren<\/strong> and veldig varmt om sommeren. \u00a0Om vinteren, f\u00e5r vi mye sn\u00f8<\/strong>. \u00a0During the winter, we get a lot of snow. \u00a0We get huge sn\u00f8stormer <\/strong>(snowstorms) and lave temperaturer<\/strong> (low temperatures). \u00a0Om sommeren, er det mye sol og h\u00f8ye temperaturer<\/strong>. \u00a0During the summer there is a lot of sun and high temperatures. \u00a0Vi f\u00e5r mye regn om v\u00e5ren<\/strong> (we get a lot of rain in the spring) that often leads to flom<\/strong> (floods). \u00a0Stormer<\/strong> with torden og lyn<\/strong> (thunder and lightning) are common as well. \u00a0This is also the sesong<\/strong> (season) that brings the occasional tornado and more often hagl <\/strong>(hail). \u00a0In the last 5 years, we have had many very destructive hagl stormer<\/strong>. \u00a0What we don\u00b4t get here in MN are tyfoner <\/strong>(typhoons), orkaner<\/strong> (hurricanes), tsunamier<\/strong>, and jordskjelver<\/strong> (earthquakes).<\/p>\n

Norway experiences much of the same v\u00e6r<\/strong> that MN does, but it doesn\u00b4t typically get quite as kaldt<\/strong>, nor does it get as varmt<\/strong>. \u00a0Norway gets a lot of sn\u00f8<\/strong> and certainly the west coast of Norway receives a lot of regn<\/strong>. \u00a0The southern and northern parts of the country usually have the most sol<\/strong>. \u00a0With a high percentage of the country covered in fjell <\/strong>(mountains), sn\u00f8skred <\/strong>(avalanches) are common. \u00a0The most ekstremt v\u00e6r<\/strong> hits the west coast as v\u00e6r systemer<\/strong> build up across the Atlantic and Nordsj\u00f8en<\/strong> (the North Sea). \u00a0Nordsj\u00f8en<\/strong> is actually one of the most dangerous bodies of water in the world. \u00a0Lots of stormer with regn, vind, og hagl.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Hvordan er v\u00e6ret <\/strong>where you are? \u00a0Her er det overskyet og litt kj\u00f8lig. <\/strong> Here it is overcast and a bit chilly. \u00a0Vi har hatt mye sn\u00f8.<\/strong> We have had a lot of snow. \u00a0Vanligvis er det mye varmere p\u00e5 denne tiden av \u00e5ret enn det er n\u00e5<\/strong>. \u00a0Usually it is much warmer at this time of year than it is now. \u00a0Jeg gleder meg til sol og varmen! <\/strong> I\u00b4m looking forward to sun and warmth!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
