Rather than simply being a bizarre tourist attraction this house, managed to attract thousands of tourists. The house is also meant to be a profound statement about the Communist era and the state of the world. Czapiewski’s company would normally take three weeks to construct a house, but this one took 114 days because the workers were disorientated by the strange angles of the walls. It is not only the exterior is upside down, but every single room in the house and also the furniture. Many tourists who visit complain of mild seasickness and dizziness after just a few minutes of being in the structure.

Take a look at the video:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pbhu6zsOBHg

While talking about this house, let’s gather some useful vocabulary.

Upside down – do góry nogami (which literally means “with your legs up”)

Interior – wnętrze

Exterior – na zewnątrz

House – dom

Apartment – mieszkanie, apartament

Apartment building – blok

Single family home – dom jednorodzinny

Duplex – dom bliźniak

Garage – garaż

Big – duży

Small – mały

Kitchen – kuchnia

Room – pokój

Living room – salon, pokój gościnny

Dining room – jadalnia

Bedroom – sypialnia

Bathroom – łazienka

Loft – strych

Mudroom – przedsionek

Basement – piwnica

Pantry – śpiżarka

Hallway – korytarz

Deck – taras

Balcony – balkon

Office – biuro

Door – drzwi

Window – okno

Floor – podłoga

Wall – ściana

Roof – dach

Steps – schody

Railing – barierka

Next time we will talk more about specific furniture and appliances in the house.

Do następnego razu! (Till next time…)

Today I wanted to suggest visiting one very interesting place in Poland.
