Therefore, I am going to present how the aspect of numbers and numbering looks like in the Polish language.<\/p>\n<p>First of all, let\u2019s talk about <em><strong>liczebniki g\u0142\u00f3wne<\/strong><\/em> (Cardinal Numbers):<\/p>\n<p>Numbers <strong>from 1 to 9<\/strong>:<\/p>\n<p>1 \u2013 jeden 6 \u2013 sze\u015b\u0107<br \/>\n2 \u2013 dwa 7 \u2013 siedem<br \/>\n3 \u2013 trzy 8 &#8211; osiem<br \/>\n4 \u2013 cztery 9 \u2013 dziewi\u0119\u0107<br \/>\n5 \u2013 pi\u0119\u0107 10 \u2013 dziesi\u0119\u0107<\/p>\n<p>In order to make the numbers <strong>from 11 to 19<\/strong> we add the ending \u201c-na\u015bcie\u201d or \u201c-a\u015bcie\u201d (&#8216;-teen&#8217;):<\/p>\n<p>11 \u2013 jedena\u015bcie 16 \u2013 szesna\u015bcie<br \/>\n12 \u2013 dwana\u015bcie 17 \u2013 siedemna\u015bcie<br \/>\n13 \u2013 trzyna\u015bcie 18 \u2013 osiemna\u015bcie<br \/>\n14 \u2013 czterna\u015bcie 19 \u2013 dziewi\u0119tna\u015bcie<br \/>\n15 \u2013 pi\u0119tna\u015bcie<\/p>\n<p>To make Polish numbers from <strong>20 to 90<\/strong> one has to add the ending \u201c-dzie\u015bci\u201d, \u201d-dzie\u015bcia\u201d or \u201d-dziesi\u0105t\u201d which is like English \u201c-ty\u201d:<\/p>\n<p>20 \u2013 dwadzie\u015bcia 60 \u2013 sze\u015b\u0107dziesi\u0105t<br \/>\n30 \u2013 trzydzie\u015bci 70 \u2013 siedemdziesi\u0105t<br \/>\n40 \u2013 czterdzie\u015bci 80 \u2013 osiemdziesi\u0105t<br \/>\n50 \u2013 pi\u0119\u0107dziesi\u0105t 90 \u2013 dziewi\u0119\u0107dziesi\u0105t<\/p>\n<p>Numbers <strong>from 21 to 99<\/strong> consist of two words:<\/p>\n<p>28 \u2013 dwadzie\u015bcia osiem<\/p>\n<p>93 \u2013 dziewi\u0119\u0107dziesi\u0105t trzy<br \/>\n45 \u2013 czterdzie\u015bci pi\u0119\u0107<\/p>\n<p>34 \u2013 trzydzie\u015bci cztery<br \/>\n71 \u2013 siedemdziesi\u0105t jeden<\/p>\n<p>52 \u2013 pi\u0119\u0107dziesi\u0105t dwa<br \/>\n86 \u2013 osiemdziesi\u0105t sze\u015b\u0107<\/p>\n<p>67 \u2013 sze\u015b\u0107dziesi\u0105t siedem<\/p>\n<p>There are also <strong>setki<\/strong> (hundreds) chich are made by adding the ending \u201c-sta\u201d, \u201d-set\u201d or \u201c-\u015bcie\u201d:<\/p>\n<p>100 \u2013 sto 600 \u2013 sze\u015b\u0107set<br \/>\n200 \u2013 dwie\u015bcie 700 \u2013 siedemset<br \/>\n300 \u2013 trzysta 800 \u2013 osiemset<br \/>\n400 \u2013 czterysta 900 \u2013 dziewi\u0119\u0107set<br \/>\n500 \u2013 pi\u0119\u0107set<\/p>\n<p>And again, we say:<\/p>\n<p>243 \u2013 dwie\u015bcie czterdzie\u015bci trzy<br \/>\n701 \u2013 siedemset jeden<br \/>\n685 \u2013 sze\u015b\u0107set osiemdziesi\u0105t pi\u0119\u0107<br \/>\n949 \u2013 dziewi\u0119\u0107set czterdzie\u015bci dziewi\u0119\u0107<\/p>\n<p><strong>Tysi\u0105ce<\/strong> (thousands) look in the following way:<\/p>\n<p>1000 \u2013 tysi\u0105c 6000 \u2013 sze\u015b\u0107 tysi\u0119cy<br \/>\n2000 \u2013 dwa tysi\u0105ce 7000 \u2013 siedem tysi\u0119cy<br \/>\n3000 \u2013 trzy tysi\u0105ce 8000 \u2013 osiem tysi\u0119cy<br \/>\n4000 \u2013 cztery tysi\u0105ce 9000 \u2013 dziewi\u0119\u0107 tysi\u0119cy<br \/>\n5000 \u2013 pi\u0119\u0107 tysi\u0119cy 10000 \u2013 dziesi\u0119\u0107 tysi\u0119cy<\/p>\n<p>There are also bigger numbers like e.g.:<\/p>\n<p>1000000 \u2013 milion (million)<br \/>\n1000000000 \u2013 miliard (billion)<br \/>\n1000000000000 \u2013 bilion (trillion)<\/p>\n<p>Similarly to English, there are some rules that you have to follow to create <strong>liczebniki porz\u0105dkowe<\/strong> (ordinal numbers).<\/p>\n<p>Depending on rodzaj (gender) they have different endings:<\/p>\n<p><em>M\u0119ski (masculine) | \u017ce\u0144ski (feminina) | L.mn. (plural)<\/em><br \/>\n1st pierwszy | pierwsza | pierwsze \/ pierwsi<br \/>\n2nd drugi | druga | drugie \/ drudzy<br \/>\n3rd trzeci | trzecia | trzecie \/ trzeci<br \/>\n4th czwarty | czwarta | czwarte<br \/>\n5th pi\u0105ty | pi\u0105ta | pi\u0105te<br \/>\n6th sz\u00f3sty | sz\u00f3sta | sz\u00f3ste<br \/>\n7th si\u00f3dmy | si\u00f3dma | si\u00f3dme<br \/>\n8th \u00f3smy | \u00f3sma | \u00f3sme<br \/>\n9th dziewi\u0105ty | dziewi\u0105ta | dziewi\u0105te<br \/>\n10th dziesi\u0105ty | dziesi\u0105ta | dziesi\u0105te<br \/>\n11th jedenasty | jedenasta | jedenaste<br \/>\n12th dwunasty | dwunasta | dwunaste etc.<\/p>\n<p>In English, when we want to make an ordinal number from 21 to 99, from 101 to 999 etc., we add the ordinal ending only to the last figure. In Polish we have to do it in the last two figures:<\/p>\n<p>22nd \u2013 dwudziesty drugi\/dwudziesta druga\/dwudzieste drugie (twenty-second)<\/p>\n<p>84th \u2013 osiemdziesi\u0105ty czwarty\/osiemdziesi\u0105ta czwarta\/osiemdziesi\u0105te czwarte (eighty-fourth)<\/p>\n<p>369th \u2013 trzysta sze\u015b\u0107dziesi\u0105ty dziewi\u0105ty\/trzysta sze\u015b\u0107dziesi\u0105ta dziewi\u0105ta\/trzysta sze\u015b\u0107dziesi\u0105te dziewi\u0105te (three hundred and sixty-ninth)<\/p>\n<p>753rd \u2013 siedemset pi\u0119\u0107dziesi\u0105ty trzeci\/siedemset pi\u0119\u0107dziesi\u0105ta trzecia\/siedemset pi\u0119\u0107dziesi\u0105te trzecie (seven hundred and fifty-fifth)<\/p>\n<p>4567th \u2013 cztery tysi\u0105ce pi\u0119\u0107set sze\u015b\u0107dziesi\u0105ty si\u00f3dmy\/cztery tysi\u0105ce pi\u0119\u0107set sze\u015b\u0107dziesi\u0105ta si\u00f3dma\/cztery tysi\u0105ce pi\u0119\u0107set sze\u015b\u0107dziesi\u0105te si\u00f3dme (four thousand five hundred and sixty seventh)<\/p>\n<p>9828th \u2013 dziewi\u0119\u0107 tysi\u0119cy osiemset dwudziesty \u00f3smy\/dziewi\u0119\u0107 tysi\u0119cy osiemset dwudziesta \u00f3sma\/dziewi\u0119\u0107 tysi\u0119cy osiemset dwudzieste \u00f3sme (nine thousand eight hundred and twenty-eighth)<\/p>\n<p>It is a lot of information and you may feel overwhelmed.
