The number of people injured (<strong>ranni, poszkodowani<\/strong>) on Poland&#8217;s roads stood at 305, from 128 a year earlier.<a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.transparent.com\/polish\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/18\/2012\/01\/Unknown-14.jpeg\" aria-label=\"Unknown 14\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-full wp-image-2617\"  alt=\"\" width=\"220\" height=\"229\" \/ src=\"https:\/\/blogs.transparent.com\/polish\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/18\/2012\/01\/Unknown-14.jpeg\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">On January 1 2012, the police pulled over 447 drivers who were found to be under the influence of alcohol (<strong>pod wp\u0142ywem\u00a0alkoholu<\/strong>), an increase on a year earlier. Better weather conditions (<strong>lepsze warunki<\/strong> <strong>pogodowe<\/strong>) than a year ago also lead to more careless driving (<strong>nieostro\u017cna jazda<\/strong>), the police reported.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">The 551 fires reported across Poland during the 2011-2012 New Year&#8217;s Eve weekend were mainly caused by a failure to observe safety precautions (<strong>\u015brodki ostro\u017cno\u015bci\/\u015brodki bezpiecze\u0144stwa<\/strong>) during the lighting of fireworks, the police said.
