Many times you were probably in a situation when you had to refuse something, say “no” in a polite way.<\/p>\n
Today I will try to give you some examples of refusal in a different situations you may find yourself in Poland.<\/p>\n
Shopping at the store, when you are approached by the sales representative asking if she\/he can help you with anything, sometimes you just feel like just looking around and you do not help…What do you say then?<\/p>\n
Nie,\u00a0dzi\u0119kuj\u0119<\/strong> – no, thank you<\/p>\n Narazie tylko\u00a0si\u0119 rozgl\u0105dam<\/strong> – I’m just browsing right now<\/p>\n Dam pani\/panu\u00a0zna\u0107, je\u015bli\u00a0b\u0119d\u0119\u00a0potrzebowa\u0107 pomocy<\/strong> – I will let you (polite form pani(f)\/panu (m)) know if I need help<\/p>\n Nie dzi\u0119kuj\u0119, nie potrzebuj\u0119 pomocy – <\/strong><\/strong>No thank you, I do not need help<\/p>\n If you are purchasing something and sales person will ask you about additional insurance, you may use these phrases:<\/p>\n Nie,\u00a0dzi\u0119kuj\u0119,\u00a0nie potrzebuj\u0119 dodatkowego ubezpieczenia\/gwarancji – <\/strong><\/strong><\/strong>No, thank you, I do not need additional insurance\/warranty<\/p>\n Wezm\u0119 tylko podstawow\u0105 gwarancj\u0119 – <\/strong><\/strong><\/strong>I will take only basic warranty<\/p>\n While walking \u00a0in public, you may be approached by a person doing gallup poll (ankieta) for some company. You may not feel like talking to anyone, so you can just simply say:<\/p>\n Nie,\u00a0dzi\u0119kuj\u0119 – no, thank you<\/strong><\/p>\n Dzi\u0119kuj\u0119, ale nie jestem zainteresowana (f)\/zainteresowany (m)<\/strong> – Thank you, but I’m not interested<\/p>\n Well, there are a lot of homeless people everywhere in the world. Probably everywhere, while you walking ,you may see a person like this begging for money. In this case decision is yours. But if you want to refuse, just say:<\/p>\n Prosz\u0119\u00a0zostawi\u0107 mnie w spokoju<\/strong> – please leave me alone<\/p>\n Another situation is when you want to refuse someone who is trying to invite you on a date:<\/p>\n Dzi\u0119kuj\u0119, ale nie jestem zainteresowana (f)\/zainteresowany (m) – <\/strong>Thank you, I’m not interested<\/p>\n Jestem zaj\u0119ta (f)\/zaj\u0119ty (m) – <\/strong><\/strong>I’m taken<\/p>\n <\/strong>Mam ch\u0142opaka\/dziewczyn\u0119<\/strong> – I have a boyfriend\/girlfriend<\/p>\n M\u00f3j m\u0105\u017c\u00a0nie by\u0142by\u00a0szcz\u0119\u015bliwy z tego powodu<\/strong> –\u00a0My husband would not be happy about it<\/p>\n Moja\u00a0\u017cona\u00a0nie by\u0142aby szcz\u0119\u015bliwa z tego powodu<\/strong> – My wife would not be happy about it<\/p>\n …and hopefully they get it!<\/p>\n
