After more than 40 years on the international stage, Polish singer Irena Jarocka<\/strong> has passed away in Warsaw.<\/p>\n

One of the best known hits of Irena Jarocka was \u201cOdp\u0142ywaj\u0105 kawiarenki\u201d<\/strong> (Sail Away Cafes).\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n

Irena Jarocka debuted in 1968 at the festival in Sopot. Her first hit was the song \u201cGondolierzy znad Wis\u0142y\u201d<\/strong> (Gondoliers on the Vistula River).<\/p>\n

Over the years,\u00a0Irena Jarocka\u00a0sang such well-known songs as “Motylem jestem”<\/strong> (I am a Butterfly), \u201cKocha si\u0119 tylko raz\u201d<\/strong> (You Love Only Once), \u201cOdp\u0142ywaj\u0105 kawiarenki\u201d<\/strong> (Sail Away Cafes), \u201cWymy\u015bli\u0142am Ci\u0119\u201d<\/strong> (I Created You), “Beatlemania story”.<\/p>\n

She also starred in the movie “I Am a Butterfly, or a 40-year-old\u2019s Romance” and in the Mrozek’s play “Beautiful View”.<\/p>\n

She won many prestigious awards at international festivals\u00a0and recorded many albums. The last of them were \u201cMa\u0142e rzeczy\u201d<\/strong> (Little Things) released in 2008 and \u201cPoniewa\u017c zn\u00f3w s\u0105 \u015awi\u0119ta\u201d<\/strong> (Because the Christmas Comes Once Again) in 2010.<\/p>\n

She performed in eight languages with such stars as Mireille Mathieu, Charles Aznavour, Michel Legrand and ABBA. She has recorded for the world\u2019s largest studios, such as Phillips, Supraphon, Warner Brothers, Cristal-EMI, Melodia, and Polish Records.<\/p>\n

She emigrated to the United States in the 1990s and she took a break from performing for several years, before gaining speed anew, particularly after she returned to Poland, where she always felt most inspired. Over the years she released several albums through such major labels as Universal Music Polska “Little Things” – a collection of ballads and pop songs. 2010 proved to be a productive one for Irena Jarocka, both from a musical and a publishing standpoint. She released a two-CD compilation with the artist\u2019s great hits in new arrangements.<\/p>\n

Jarocka will be buried in the Catacombs of Old Pow\u0105zki Cemetery in Warsaw.<\/p>\n

A memorial service for Irena Jarocka is being held at the Stanis\u0142aw Kostka Church in Greenpoint, New York (607 Humboldt Street) on Sunday the 29th of January at 5:00 p.m.<\/p>\n
