{"id":3134,"date":"2012-05-06T23:34:42","date_gmt":"2012-05-06T23:34:42","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.transparent.com\/polish\/?p=3134"},"modified":"2012-05-06T23:34:42","modified_gmt":"2012-05-06T23:34:42","slug":"when-is-poland-going-to-join-eurozone","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.transparent.com\/polish\/when-is-poland-going-to-join-eurozone\/","title":{"rendered":"When is Poland going to join eurozone?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify\">Poland, the European Union&#8217;s fastest growing economy, wants to become a member of the eurozone (<strong>cz\u0142onek strefy euro<\/strong>),\u00a0but its finance minister (<strong>minister finans\u00f3w<\/strong>) says the country (<strong>kraj<\/strong>) will wait until &#8220;it is safe to do so.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">Poland wants to join the eurozone, but there is still a lot to be done and the eurozone has a lot of homework to do.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.transparent.com\/polish\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/18\/2012\/05\/images-26.jpeg\" aria-label=\"Images 26\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-3136\"  alt=\"\" width=\"267\" height=\"189\" \/ src=\"https:\/\/blogs.transparent.com\/polish\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/18\/2012\/05\/images-26.jpeg\"><\/a>Minister Jan Vincent-Rostowski says the eurozone must be &#8220;repaired&#8221; and that there is more work to be done. Half the job has been done, but Poland is still not entirely out of the woods.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">He says at the moment there is no real safety (<strong>bezpiecze\u0144stwo<\/strong>)\u00a0when problems arise in the eurozone and there needs to be fewer restrictions on the European Central Bank (<strong>Europejski Bank Centralny<\/strong>), for example when it comes to buying government bonds (<strong>obligacje rz\u0105dowe<\/strong>).<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">&#8220;We feel that the so-called firewall is inadequately large and we feel that the freedom of action that the ECB thinks it has is inadequate,&#8221; minister said.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">But despite the difficult economic climate (<strong>trudna sytuacja ekonomiczna<\/strong>) engulfing much of Europe, Poland&#8217;s economy is continuing to grow.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">According to Vincent-Rostowski, between 2008 and 2011 Poland achieved a cumulative growth of almost 16% &#8212; double that of the EU&#8217;s second fastest growing economy, Slovakia.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">Regardless of Poland&#8217;s growth, the country is enacting a policy of austerity (<strong>polityka zaciskania pasa<\/strong>). Vincent-Rostowski sees this as the most important part of the country&#8217;s fiscal policy (<strong>polityka fiskalna<\/strong>).
