{"id":38,"date":"2008-07-11T00:30:59","date_gmt":"2008-07-11T04:30:59","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.transparent.com\/polish\/?p=38"},"modified":"2014-06-10T13:21:01","modified_gmt":"2014-06-10T13:21:01","slug":"pronunciation-samples","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.transparent.com\/polish\/pronunciation-samples\/","title":{"rendered":"Pronunciation Samples"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>At last!<\/p>\n<p>I know you\u2019ve been asking about pronunciation, and I know you\u2019ve been requesting phonetic equivalents for all the Polish words I\u2019m introducing in each post.<\/p>\n<p>The problem with phonetic approximations is that if we use English sounds, then for those readers who are not native English speakers, such examples will not make much sense. Also, how would we transcribe such gems as <strong>\u015b \u0144 \u0107<\/strong> or <strong>\u0119<\/strong> and <strong>\u0105<\/strong>? Those sounds simply don\u2019t exist in the English language.<\/p>\n<p>The only other option would be to use those real phonetic symbols. You know, those you see in foreign dictionaries. The little scribbles in square brackets that require an advanced degree in linguistics to pronounce them correctly. Yeah, those! I don\u2019t know about you, but I just tend to zone out when I see them.<\/p>\n<p>So I thought the easiest would be to simply give you the correct pronunciation, you can listen to it, and then transcribe it any way you want. Sounds good? I hope so!<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Here is how it works:<br \/>\nAll multi-word phrases are said twice. First I do it slowly, saying each word separately, and then follow by a normal speed version.<\/p>\n<p>All single words are only said once.<\/p>\n<p>And please, no laughing at my robotic voice!<\/p>\n<p>So, here we go.
