I asked few of my friends about Poles and what they think about them…not because of me…but what is their experience while visiting Poland. This is what I heard:<\/p>\n
“Polish people have a real seriousness about them. You will see them walking down the street focused on where they are going. Polish people seem to not be concerned with what is happening around them. This seems like a contradiction when you realise how nice and helpful Polish people are. When you see Polish people not concerned with what is happening around them you can make the assumption that they don’t care. This assumption is wrong. Polish people are very helpful and friendly. Also on the tram or bus you will see the biggest meanest guy stand up and give his seat to an old lady. Polish people are concerned by others well being.”<\/p>\n
“There is a tension in some parts of Poland. A tension that feels like one day it will explode. This is hard to explain but I have observed it in Krak\u00f3w, Warsaw etc. I don’t think it would ever explode towards the people but maybe towards authority. This also adds to the excitment. As well as the Polish drivers it adds to the feel of a sort of wild west (or wild east :-)).”<\/p>\n
“In the cities there are so many people but it is so quiet not like Rome or Paris for example. I really like this seriousness and quietness it shows a sort of self confidence where the people don’t have to show off or be the centre of attention. This may seem silly but even the dogs don’t show much concern for other dogs or people. They just walk along and not bother others. Just wagging their tail.”<\/p>\n
“The traditions of Poland are great as well. As well as these traditions some of the beliefs are interesting. For example not saying “thank you” when you are wished good luck as it will bring bad luck and not lighting a ciggarette from a candle because a sailor will die. I hope that these beliefs and traditions stay. Also the food is great. The food is a source of pride for Polish people. Polish people are proud of their food and traditions. I hope this stays and these are not lost.”<\/p>\n
“There is a romantic side to Polish people. Girls walking street with flowers or guys with flowers on their way to see their girl. People cuddling and Polish people are kissing everywhere you walk or sit :-).”<\/p>\n
“People take pride in their clothes and how they look.”<\/p>\n
“Poland is a great country for many reasons. I think that I could live here and be very happy:-).”<\/p>\n
