But for now, let\u2019s talk about przeprowadzka<\/strong> (moving house). You have to admit, it can be a very exciting experience. Yes, it\u2019s also awfully stressful and tiresome. Plenty of stuff to do and to take care of. First pakowanie<\/strong> (packing), which can be a total disaster when done wrong. And it definitely went wrong in our case, or at least – not quite right. Being too cheap to hire a moving company, <\/span>pakowali\u015bmy<\/span><\/strong> wszystko sami <\/strong>(we packed everything ourselves). <\/span><\/p>\n

Today, when unpacking, I was faced with such life mysteries as socks inside a rice cooker (to economize space, I presume) and a cat carrier stuffed with assorted bathroom items (luckily, we have more than one cat carrier case, otherwise the furry ones would have been in trouble). <\/span><\/p>\n

After this przeprowadzka<\/strong>, I can honestly say that I\u2019ve had enough of moving house for a long while.<\/span><\/p>\n

So, because I\u2019m really not looking forward to more rozpakowywanie<\/strong> (unpacking) tonight, let\u2019s talk about przeprowadzka vocabulary instead. Don\u2019t worry, you\u2019ll see it\u2019s a very interesting word.<\/span><\/p>\n

The word \u201cprzeprowadzka<\/strong>\u201d is of course a noun, a feminine noun at that (plural:<\/em> przeprowadzki<\/strong>). But where does it come from? From a verb. The verb is \u201cprzeprowadza<\/strong><\/span>\u0107<\/span> si<\/span>\u0119<\/span><\/strong>.\u201d And here is where it gets interesting.<\/span><\/p>\n

You see, \u201cprzeprowadza<\/strong><\/span>\u0107<\/span> si<\/span>\u0119<\/span><\/strong>\u201d is an imperfective form of \u201cprzeprowadzi<\/strong><\/span>\u0107<\/span> si<\/span>\u0119<\/span><\/strong>.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

These two guys in turn come from other verbs \u2013 \u201cprowadza<\/strong><\/span>\u0107<\/span> si<\/span>\u0119<\/span><\/strong>\u201d and \u201cprowadzi<\/strong><\/span>\u0107<\/span> si<\/span>\u0119<\/span><\/strong>\u201d respectively.<\/span><\/p>\n

But the meaning of those stem verbs is totally different. And then different again, if you drop the reflexive \u201csi<\/strong><\/span>\u0119<\/span><\/strong>\u201d bit. <\/span><\/p>\n
