With potentially scorching summers, and equally as superlative winters, there’s little room for guessing what’s going to happen year on year in Poland. But, while in my experience the boundaries between Winter (zima – think of the adjective zimny, meaning ‘cold’) and Spring (wiosna) can be blurred (with snow possible right into late April), Summer (lato) is usually extremely pleasant, can start early, and last late into the Autumn (jesień) months.

<img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-6072" alt="1281" width="400" height="250" / src="https://blogs.transparent.com/polish/wp-content/uploads/sites/18/2015/08/1281.jpg" srcset="https://blogs.transparent.com/polish/wp-content/uploads/sites/18/2015/08/1281.jpg 400w, https://blogs.transparent.com/polish/wp-content/uploads/sites/18/2015/08/1281-350x219.jpg 350w" sizes="auto, (max-width: 400px) 100vw, 400px" />

And here is some useful weather vocabulary:

blizzard –
