What are some crazy, funny, awesome things to see in Poland?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify\">And\u00a0you\u00a0thought the whole Eastern Europe was nothing but boring grey concrete apartment blocks as far as the eye can see. Ha!<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">So if you haven\u2019t figured out by now,\u00a0Poland is pretty great, with spectacular vodka as far as the eye can see, amazing food, and some other fun stuff as well. But it\u2019s not just fancy cathedrals and old-timey charming cobblestones and what have you. That\u2019s great too, but sometimes you just want to see something out of the ordinary, and\u00a0Poland has a number of quirky tourist attractions\u00a0that\u2019ll catch your attention and demand a \u201cmeanwhile, in Poland\u201d sort of caption.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">Let&#8217;s see&#8230;what should we start with?<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">How about <strong>the world\u2019s biggest Jesus!<\/strong><br \/>\nIt\u2019s called the Christ the King statue (<strong>Pomnik Chrystusa Kr\u00f3la<\/strong>), and yup,\u00a0it\u2019s the tallest statue of Jesus in the world, at 33 m (108 ft) tall.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_6252\" style=\"width: 436px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter post-item__attachment\"><a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.transparent.com\/polish\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/18\/2016\/01\/jesus-statue_christ-the-king-poland.jpg\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-6252\" aria-label=\"Jesus Statue Christ The King Poland\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-6252\" class=\"wp-image-6252 size-full\" title=\"http:\/\/thejesusquestion.org\/2012\/09\/10\/worlds-tallest-jesus-statues\/\"  alt=\"\" width=\"426\" height=\"546\" \/ src=\"https:\/\/blogs.transparent.com\/polish\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/18\/2016\/01\/jesus-statue_christ-the-king-poland.jpg\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blogs.transparent.com\/polish\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/18\/2016\/01\/jesus-statue_christ-the-king-poland.jpg 426w, https:\/\/blogs.transparent.com\/polish\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/18\/2016\/01\/jesus-statue_christ-the-king-poland-273x350.jpg 273w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 426px) 100vw, 426px\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-6252\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Image found on http:\/\/thejesusquestion.org<\/p><\/div>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">It\u2019s in western Poland, in a town called\u00a0<strong>\u015awiebodzin<\/strong>, and was built on a budget of $1.5 million, and although it might sound a bit like this is all in the service of a \u201cwe have a bigger statue than you\u201d sort of contest, the height of 33 meters is also supposed to symbolize Christ\u2019s 33 years.\u00a0Architect(s): Sylwester Zawadzki (project conception and leadership); Miros\u0142aw Kazimierz Patecki (sculpture design); Assoc. Jakub Marcinowski and Assoc. Miko\u0142aj K\u0142ape\u0107 (technical design); Tomasz Stafiniak and Krzysztof Nawojski (clothing and arm design); Marian Wybraniec (foundation design).<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">It weighs in at 440 tons, or almost 400,000 kg, and took about 4 years to build. It\u2019s quite an impressive site up on the mound without any skyscrapers in the background to steal his thunder.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><strong>The Crooked Forest<\/strong>\u00a0in Poland\u00a0is another great place to visit. Although not really known by tourists, it is worth seeing. It is full of oddly-shaped trees that look like something really bad happened to them. It\u2019s located outside\u00a0<strong>Nowe Czarnkowo<\/strong> in the West Pomerania Voivodeship\u00a0(<strong>wojew\u00f3dztwo zachodniopomorskie<\/strong>) and it consists about 400 pines planted there around 1930, when the area was German territory. Another theory states that the forest looks like that because of the tanks rolling over the young trees during the World War II which forced them to grow in a less conventional way for the trees to grow. Some people also believe that the woods were grown like that on purpose, created by the Compass Timbers (which are used in ship building afterwards). Foreigners in Poland believe that all of these stories are untrue and extremely boring.\u00a0Whatever the answer is, it\u2019s a great place to see so don\u2019t hesitate to start planning your trip!<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">Another crazy place? <strong>Crooked house!\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">More crookedness! Because Poland gets bored when things are boring. I mean, we\u00a0<em>all\u00a0<\/em>do, but Poland decided to do something about it. Or\u2026this architect did.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">It\u2019s actually part of a shopping center, and was finished in 2004, in the city of Sopot, in northern Poland.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">Tenants include restaurants, clothing stores, coffee shops, and other businesses. It\u2019s bigger on the inside than it looks from the street, since it goes back pretty deep.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">When my husband and I visited Sopot, we had to see this place! Great architecture! Rather than simply being a bizarre tourist attraction this house, managed to attract thousands of tourists. The house is also meant to be a profound statement about the Communist era and the state of the world. Czapiewski\u2019s company would normally take three weeks to construct a house, but this one took 114 days because the workers were disorientated by the strange angles of the walls. It is not only the exterior is upside down, but every single room in the house and also the furniture. Many tourists who visit complain of mild seasickness and dizziness after just a few minutes of being in the structure.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">\n<p>Have any of you visited all of these places?
