It\u2019s November 30th today and that means only one thing in Poland \u2013 Andrzejki<\/strong>. The feast of St. Andrew\u2019s, celebrated in a very unsaintly way \u2013 by fortune telling, singing, dancing and much drinking. I think I wrote about Andrzejki<\/strong> last year, so I\u2019m not going to repeat myself. And besides, I\u2019ve never been a fan of pouring hot, melted wax into a pan of cold water, and through a keyhole, no less (lanie wosku<\/strong>).<\/p>\n

So let\u2019s celebrate the end of November (koniec listopada<\/strong>) in a slightly more refined way \u2013 by looking at some pretty photos of Poland. Yes, it\u2019s time for our occasional Polish photoblogs roundup.<\/p>\n

Today I have two sites for you showcasing the beauty (and otherwise) of \u015al\u0105sk<\/strong> (Silesia). One is about Gliwice<\/strong>, and the other \u2013 Chorz\u00f3w<\/strong>. Now, call me stupid, but until today I wasn\u2019t even 100% just where exactly Gliwice<\/strong> was. I knew it was in the lower part of the map, slightly to the left, but that\u2019s about it. And until I discovered Gliwice Daily Photo<\/a>, I had been under the impression that Gliwice<\/strong> was just another grimy mining town. Boy, was I wrong!<\/p>\n

The other blog representing \u015al\u0105sk<\/strong> today is Chorz\u00f3w Daily Photo<\/a>. Chorz\u00f3w<\/strong> has always seemed to me as another one of those mysterious mining towns that most people are quite happy to avoid. But wouldn\u2019t you know it? That photoblog has proved me wrong.<\/p>\n
