The State Ethnographic Museum (Pa\u0144stwowe Muzeum Etnograficzne<\/strong>), founded in 1888, is the oldest museum of its kind in Poland.
\nThe Museum collects examples of Polish and international folk culture, which number over 80,000 objects. Permanent exhibitions present the cultures of Africa, Oceania and America as well as some aspects of Polish culture such as rituals, customs and material culture. The Museum also organizes temporary thematic exhibitions (czasowe wystawy tematyczne<\/strong>) and has an effective role in scientific publishing, research and promotional activities regarding culture.<\/p>\n

Football Stories exhibition runs \u00a0June 10th \u2013 30th October 2016<\/p>\n

The event is a story about the phenomenon of passionate football fans.\u00a0The exhibits come from the permanent exhibition Time of Celebrations in the Cultures of Poland and Europe<\/strong> and a private collection of Stefan Szczep\u0142ek<\/strong>, a famous name in Polish sports journalism and a chronicler of football. This is Poland\u2019s biggest assortment of jerseys, shoes, balls, gadgets and accessories that provide a historical look at the sport and the fever that accompanies it worldwide, as each item tells an important and separate story in the history of football.<\/p>\n

The most important items with remarkable sporting stories behind them make up a collector\u2019s path. Its stages tell a mysterious story of a champagne cork, and reveal unique shirts signed by football stars such as Franz Beckenbauer, Diego Maradona, Lionel Messi, Zbigniew<\/strong> Boniek, Pele and Zinedine Zidane<\/strong>, as well as fan scarves, gadgets such as a cushion in the form of a street sign bearing the address of Widzew \u0141\u00f3d\u017a club, in addition to tickets from major tournaments.<\/p>\n
