Did <strong>\u015awi\u0119ty Miko\u0142aj<\/strong> bring you anything exciting? What? Don\u2019t tell me that you forgot about <strong>Miko\u0142ajki<\/strong> (6 <strong>grudnia<\/strong> \u2013 December 6th).<\/p>\n<p>I wrote about <strong>Miko\u0142ajki<\/strong> last year, and I\u2019m sure you remember that I think it\u2019s a totally unnecessary tradition. I would much rather hold off for a bigger and better present on Christmas.<\/p>\n<p>And how is your writing of Christmas cards (<strong>pisanie kartek \u015bwi\u0105tecznych<\/strong>) coming along? I\u2019m very proud to say that I only have a couple left to send out. And after that\u2019s done, I\u2019ll finally have enough time to sit and ponder how I\u2019m going to throw a traditional Polish <strong>Wigilia<\/strong> (Christmas Eve dinner) in this foreign land.<\/p>\n<p>And actually, I have a question for those of you with Polish spouses: how do you celebrate Christmas? Do you do it the Polish way? Or the &#8220;foreign&#8221; way? Or a combination of both, perhaps?<\/p>\n<p>Do you do the whole <strong>Wigilia<\/strong> bit with 12 different dishes and hay under the tablecloth? With <strong>op\u0142atek<\/strong> and gifts on the 24th?<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\"><a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.transparent.com\/polish\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/18\/2009\/12\/untitled-1.jpg\" aria-label=\"Untitled 1\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-653\"  alt=\"\" width=\"350\" height=\"254\" \/ src=\"https:\/\/blogs.transparent.com\/polish\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/18\/2009\/12\/untitled-1.jpg\"><\/a><br \/>\n<em>Barszcz &#8211; one of the traditional Christmas Eve dishes.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>I am asking because this year I was drafted to prepare <strong>tradycyjne polskie \u015bwi\u0119ta<\/strong> &#8211; a traditional Polish Christmas. And frankly, I\u2019m worried. Very worried. My utter lack of culinary skills combined with the utter lack of Polish products here is a very bad combination. So your suggestions regarding how I can solve this problem will be much appreciated.<\/p>\n<p>And descriptions of your traditional <strong>polskie \u015bwi\u0119ta na obczy\u017anie<\/strong> (Polish Christmas in foreign lands) will be very helpful as well.<\/p>\n<p>So please, don\u2019t be shy and do share!
