Jan Brzechwa was an amazing Polish poet! We all knew his fantastic work! His poems always made me smile and there are many that I still know by heart, just like a lot of kids growing up in Poland. Today’s poem is about a hippo and a frog!<\/p>\n

Zachwycony jej powabem<\/strong>

\n Jestem wprawdzie hipopotam,<\/strong>
\n Kilogram\u00f3w wa\u017c\u0119 z tysi\u0105c,<\/strong>
\n Ale za to m\u00f3g\u0142bym przysi\u0105c,<\/strong>
\n \u017be wz\u00f3r m\u0119\u017ca znajdziesz we mnie<\/strong>

When a hippo saw a frog
\nHe instantly fell in love:<\/p>\n

\u201cWill you be my wife? I beg you,
\nYou\u2019ll appreciate my value,
\nYou won\u2019t find a better one
\nAlthough I\u2019m a heavy man.
\nI\u2019m a perfect man to marry,
\nFor you I\u2019ll be like a fairy.
\nI will make your dreams come true
\nIf you tell me what to do.
\nWith me you will see the world,
\nI will give you any gold.
\nAnd if you feel tired, darling,
\nI will gladly end my babbling
\nAnd at home I\u2019ll cook some wonders.
