Every year on January 21st, people across Poland take a moment to honor their grandmother.\u00a0January 21 is Grandmother’s Day (Dzie\u0144 Babci<\/strong>) in Poland. It was created by\u00a0Kobieta i \u017bycie<\/strong> (Woman and Life) magazine in 1964.<\/p>\n

The idea of celebrating Grandmother’s Day first appeared in the Woman and Life weekly magazine in 1964. A year later, the Express Pozna\u0144ski<\/strong> (Pozna\u0144 Express) newspaper began to popularize the new holiday. In 1966, Express Wieczorny<\/strong> (Evening Express) joined. Grandmother’s Day has been celebrated every year since then. Grandfather’s Day is celebrated a day later, on January 22nd.<\/p>\n

This day\u00a0is widely celebrated across the country. Children and adults congratulate their grandmothers and give them small presents, greeting cards, flowers to show their gratitude and appreciation. The gifts are often handmade. Schools and kindergartens sometimes organize events to celebrate the holiday.<\/p>\n
