Exchanging money in Poland is the most frequent banking necessity for visitors. Consequently, it is necessary that you obtain the most for your money by getting familiar with these typical money words in Polish.<\/p>\n<p>Today I will list some examples, that might be helpful.<\/p>\n<p>The word for money in Polish is <strong>pieni\u0105dze<\/strong><i>. <\/i>Credit card<i> is <\/i><strong>karta kredytowa<\/strong> and traveller\u2019s check is\u00a0<strong>czek podr\u00f3\u017cny<\/strong><i>.<\/i><\/p>\n<p>Despite the rather grandiose name, the <strong>Z\u0142oty<\/strong> is unfortunately not &#8220;golden&#8221; &#8211; which is the literal translation of the word &#8211; but comes in a variety of shapes, from the two tier colored 5 and 2 denominations, to the plain silver single <strong>Z\u0142oty<\/strong> coins.<\/p>\n<p>The international accountancy acronym (<span lang=\"pl\"><strong>mi\u0119dzynarodowy akronim ksi\u0119gowo\u015bci<\/strong>)\u00a0<\/span>for the Polish currency is<strong> PLN<\/strong> (which stands for \u2018Polish New\u2019, as the <strong>Z\u0142oty <\/strong>is the currency that has been circulating since 1994), and this is what will be displayed in most <i>bureau de change<\/i> <strong>Kantor wymiany<\/strong>, or simply <strong>Kantor<\/strong>.
