But did\u00a0you know that people without sight may compensate with enhanced hearing, taste, touch and smell? Hearing is a mechanical sense (<strong>zmys\u0142 mechaniczny<\/strong>). Dogs are known as great smellers, but research suggests that humans are just as good as man&#8217;s best friend. Humans have 400 smelling receptors (<span class=\"Y2IQFc\" lang=\"pl\"><strong>400 receptor\u00f3w w\u0119chowych<\/strong>)<\/span>. It helped people test the food they ate: a bitter or sour taste indicated that a plant might be poisonous or rotten (<span class=\"Y2IQFc\" lang=\"pl\"><strong>truj\u0105ce lub zgni\u0142e<\/strong>)<\/span>. Does\u00a0proprioception sound familiar?\u00a0Proprioception (<strong>p<\/strong><span class=\"Y2IQFc\" lang=\"pl\"><strong>ropriocepcja<\/strong>)\u00a0<\/span>includes the sense of movement and position of our limbs and muscles (<span class=\"Y2IQFc\" lang=\"pl\"><strong>poczucie ruchu i pozycji naszych ko\u0144czyn i mi\u0119\u015bni<\/strong>)<\/span>. To give you an example, proprioception enables a person to touch their finger to the tip of their nose, even with their eyes closed.
