Let&#8217;s look at some of them.<\/p>\n<p>1. <i>Nossa Senhora <\/i><u>or<\/u><i> Nossa!<\/i>&nbsp; [Noh-sah Seen-yor-ah]<br \/>This is a very common Brazilian expression. The full expression is &#8220;Nossa Senhora Aparecida,&#8221; which is the patron saint of Brazil. It&#8217;s a nicer way of saying &#8220;Oh my god!&#8221; rather than directly saying &#8220;Ai meu Deus.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Example:<br \/><i>Olha ai ao final da rua. \u00c9<\/i><i> o Cristo Redentor.<\/i> Look up the street. It&#8217;s Christ the Redeemer!<br \/><i>Nossa Senhora! Que lindo. Oh my god! It&#8217;s beautiful. <\/i><\/p>\n<p>2. <i>Que \u00e9 isso <\/i><u>or<\/u> <i>O qu\u00ea que \u00e9 isso <\/i><u>or<\/u> <i>Que isso? <\/i>[Key eh ee-soo? Oo key kay eh ee-soo ? Key ee-soo]<br \/>All of these expressions mean the same thing: What IS that? It&#8217;s meant to show disbelief, and directly translates to &#8220;What the heck?&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Example:<br \/><i>Eu estou muito cansada. Fiquei vendo Big Brother a noite toda. <\/i><br \/>I&#8217;m so tired. I spent the whole night watching Big Brother.<\/p>\n<p><i>Que isso!! Esse show \u00e9<\/i><i> ruim demais. <\/i><br \/>What the heck?! That show is awful.<\/p>\n<p>3. <i>Caramba!<\/i> [Kah-rahm-bah]<br \/>This word is meant to express surprise or shock, and translates to Wow! or Woah! or Jeez!<\/p>\n<p>Example:<br \/><i>Caramba! Esta mala \u00e9<\/i> <i>pesada. <\/i>Jeez!
